This year it was held in the community house at LaurinbuTig and about 125 were present to enjjoy the excellent meal and entertaining program. Those going from Raeford were: J. Lee, Younger Snead, Younger Jr., Mrs. Clyde Christopher, Dr. R. L. Murray, Tom McLauchlin, Mr. and Mrsi. Tom Cameron and Miss Irma Willims of the school faculty. There w«^ an interesting pvo- ^am; prizes which had been' con tributed by different business tnen were draAvn, a magician was on hand with a clever performance, all of which went to make it a most successful occasion. — 0— BW & P CLUB HAS CHRISTMAS PARTY ' RAEFORD GIRLS IN PEACE COLLEGE CHRISTMAS PLAY The annual Christmas i)ageant, “O Come Let Us Adore Him,” was presented last Sunday evening by the Peace College Student Christian Association. The produc tion portrayed the story of the Messiah from the prophesies of the Old Testament to the birth of Christ. Marie Cameron, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.' H. A. Camieron, was cast in the role of Mary and Katherine Blue, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Blue, was one of the Sing ing Angels. 0 - ROBINSON-BLUE MARRIAGE ANNOUNCED MRS. CAMERON GARDEN CLUB HOSTESS The high school lunchroom, with its decorations suggestive of the Yuletide seasonT made a cheerful setting for the Christmas party and, Deceihber meeting of the Business and Professional 'Womien’s club last Friday evening. After a delicious turkey dinner with all accessories, gifts, wihich were placed under the Christmas tree upon arrival, were exchanged, and an hour of gabies was enjoyed. At the end of the meeting the members of the club folowed Mrs. Ed Willis, who moved into her niew home on Central Avenue, Sunset Hill, last week, home and ■gave her a surprise housewarming. =■ 0 DEES-WRIGHT Mrs. D. F. Blue of Parkton an nounces the marriage of her daughter, Sarah Parker to Benja min Robinson, son of the Rev. and Mrs. B. P. Robinson of Raeford, Soturday, December 11, at Ben- netts5>4lle, S. C. The ceremony was performed by the. Rev. R. C. Griffith, pastor of the First Methodist church in Bennettsville.- The bride received hex education at East Caroolina Teacher’s Col lege in Greenville and.^is now a member of the' Raeford Graded sc;hpo‘l« faculty. 'The bridegroom received his education at Louis- burg College. He is now connected with the Allen Construction com pany in Fayetteville. The couple now have an apart ment in the home of Miss Flora Boyce. 0 ■ HOUSEWARMING HONORS MRS. ED WILLIS Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Wright of Route 2, Raeford announce the marriage of thieir daughter, Rachel to Melvin Lewis Dees, son of Mr. nd Mrs. G. D. Dees of Rockfish. The wedding took place in Dillon, S. C;, October 3. On Monday evening of this week Mrs. Ed Willis was honored when friends and neighbors gathered at her new home on Sun set Hill, Cetral Avenue, and com pletely surprised her with pack ages of many lovely and useful gifts for her home. ^ After Mrs. Willis had opened her gifts and everyone had looked at the houise thie hositesses, Mrs. Stanley Koonce, Mrs. Clarence Willis, Mrs. Hector B. McNeill, Jr., and Mrs. Harvey Warlick, served punch and cookies.. The annual Christmas meeting of the Raeford Garden club was held this year in the home of Mra H. A. Can^ron with Mrs. A. D. Gore assisting hostess. From the entrance oni through the house unique and pretty ar rangements of greens, berries and flowers caAied out an elaborate Christmas motif. In the bow win dow of the parlor there was a lighted Christmas tree. The mantel and table, arrangements here were in gold and rose. In the reception hall there was green, white and silver. A forest scene on an old buffet brought forth much favor able . coimment. The meeting was held in the living room. Dcorations here all showed much thought. Mrs. W. T. Covington, chairman, was unable to b^ present and Mrs. Gore presided. The progranTlhat- followed was given by High School boys and girls: A Christmas Story, Fannette Gore; The Holy City, Bo Baker; Christmas Poem', Jane McKeithan; Duet, Ethel Sue Gulledge, Bo Baker,' accompanist, Betty Up church. Mrs. Tommie Upchurch, presi dent of the Woman’s, Club, made a short talk and called attention to the National meeting which will be held in Miami in February. The club was then invited' into the dining room, where coffee, fruit cake and' nuts were served. Mrs. A. D. ■'Gore poured coffee. The table covered with a cut work cloth^as centered with an oblong container filled with white nar cissus and red roses gathered from the garden of the hostess that day. Buffet and mantel arrange-’ ments in this room were very lovely. * —0 TBE NEWBJOPKWAL COUPLES BRIDGE C^LUB MEETS Mr. and Mrs. W. T, Gibson en tertained the coiq)les‘ bridge club at their home last Wednesday evening. A dessert was served be fore the game. In the game that followed T. B. Lpster won the high score for anen and Mrs. Charles Morrison for ladies. Robert Gatlin won the visitor’s priae. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gatlin were guests other than club members. 0 BIRD SUPPER FOR METHODIST STEWARDS V ' On Tuesday evening Rev. Mr. and Mrs/P.-O. Lee entertained the stewards and severed others of the Methodist church. There were fifteen present to enjoy the de licious bird supper which was served at 6:30. Those other than stewards present were Lewis Up church, chairman of the Board of Trustees, Hinton McPhaul, charge Lay Leader and W. T. Gibson., ' 0 P.T.A. ANNOUNCES PROGRAM Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Epstein' were guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Gatlin, Jr. at Toi>sail Beach the past week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Snuth. Mrs. Paul Dezeme and.Mrs. 0. R. Sud- dreth attended a meeting of The Wh^ Shrine in Fayetteville Wed- ne^l^ night of last week. ROBINSON ENTERTAINED Mrs. Ben Robinson, who before her marriage last Saturday was the former Miss Sarah Blue, was shown an attractive bridal courte sy last evening when Misses Clau dia Cates and Mildred Hamilton and Mrs. E. H. Robinson entertain ed at the home of the latter. Around 20 guests were invited. During the evening several bridal games and contests were enjoyed, after which the hostesses served refreshments. The climax of the evening was reachied when the bride was pre sented a shower of miscallenous gifts from the hostesses and guesits present. The Omega Clegg Circle of the Raeford Methodist church will meet Monday night at 7:30 at the home.of Mrs. Ed Smith, with Mrs. Hinton McPhaul serving as as sistant hostess, for its December meeting and Christmas party. —0 EDUCATIONAL DEPT. MEETING CHANGED Mrs. Mary McDiarmid. and Mrs W. B. Gulledge spent last Thurs day night in Raleigh in the home of Mrs. GuUedge’s. daughter, Mrs. Harold Long. They went especially to attend the wedding of their niece. Miss Elizabeth Niven, dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Niven of Raleigh, to Dr. Louis Gordon Sinclair, son of Mrs. Sarah Turser Sinclair and the late B. N. Sinclair of Norwood.
