The honoree, before her recent marriage was Miss Sarah Blue of Parkton. 0 — Galatia church in Cumberland County was the scene of a very beautiful and impressive semi- fotnmal weddfing ceremony last Sunday evenii^ when Miss Mary Catherine Mclnnis became the bride of Earl Jackson Hare. The Rev. Mr. W. C. Smith of Sylvester, Ga., uncle of the bride, officiated at the double #uig ceremony. Greenery and cathedral candles predominated the artistic decora tions of the church. Ivy floor baskiets of white gladioli and white snapdragons centered the arrange ment. Prior to the ceremony a pro gram of nuptial music was presen ted by Mrs. W. C. Smith, pianist, of Sylvester, Georgia. She played “To A Wild Rose.” “Narcissus^” and “Until.” The traditional wedd ing marches were used. The bride entered the church with her brother, Thomas Me-, Innis, who gave her knnarriage. She chose for her wedding a street length dress of pastel blue alpaca crepe, with black accessories and GARDEN CLUB MEETS WITH MRS. MANN LITERATURE CLUB MEETS I carried a bouquet of white rose- bqds. 1-^ The Literature Department of the Raeford Woman’s club met at the home of Mrsi. A. L. O’Briant on Tuesday evening, with Mrs. A. H. McPhaul and Mrs. M. R. Smith associate hostess. The chairman, Mrs. G. B. Row land, presided over the business session, at whiqh time the program committee submitted a tentative program for consideration by the members. 'Mrs. J. L. McNeill gave an in teresting introduction of .the “Ballad.” A quartet from the grad ed school, Carol Everleigh, Harriet Hodgin, Lawrence McNeill and John Davis, under the direction of Miss Doris Bradley sang a group of representative ballads. Mrs. J. H. Blue then presented “North Carolina Poetry,” reading illustrative North Carolina poems; “The Old North State” by William Gaston, and others, Continuing North Carolina poetry, Mrs. J. W. McPhaul then read several poems o&ihe narriative type. Mrs. W. B. Heyward concluded the pro gram by giving a quiz of famous quotatiojis. During the social hour the hos tesses served ice cream, cookies, coffee and nuts. 0 FREDRICK-QUIMBY Miss Frances A. QuLmby, dau ghter of Mrs. Raymond p. Quimby and the late Mr. Quimby of Beth lehem, New Hampshire and Pine- hurst, N. C., became the bride of Kenneth (Buddy) Fredrick of AshQey Heiglhts, in a double ring ceremony solemnized Wednesday, Decemiber 22. 1948, at the home of Judge Kennedy at Bennettsville, South Carolina. They were accom panied to Bennettsville by Mr. and Mrs. Leonard McBryde. The couple will make their home, with' Mr. Fredrick’s aunt, Mrs. Maggie McBryde, at Ashley Heights. N. REAL TIME Mrs. J. Ei Mclnnis of Asheville, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor and the only at- endant. She wore a street length dress of pink alpaca crepe, identi cal to that of the bride, with black accessories. She carried a bouquet of white carnations. Ernest Green of Aberdeen, the groom’'S brother-in-law, was best man. Ushers were Dan arid Smith Mclnnis of Raeford, brothers of the bride, Ralph Cothran of Aber deen, brother-in-law of the groom, and James C. Lentz of Raeford. The bride’s mother was dressed iri a dress of Mack silk, crepe with black accessories, and the groom’s mother wore a dress of blue silk crepe with black accessories. Both wore corsages of pink rosebuds. Mrs. Hare is the daughter of Mrs. A. A. Mclnnis and the late Mr. Mclnnis of Rockfish. She is a graduate of Hoke High school. Since her graduation she has held a responsible position at Fort Bragg. Mr. Hare is the son of Mrs. W. H. Hare and the late Mr. Hare of^ Aberdeen. He attended Hoke High school but is a graduate of Aber deen High school. At present Mr. Hare is conductor qn the Railroad bus from Aberdeen to Fayetteville. The couple left immediately fol lowing the ceremony for a wedding trip to unannounced points. Upon their return they will be at home at Ashley Heights. 0 Mrs. L. J. Collins, who has been in Petersburg, Va. since last March with relatives, has returned to Raeford for an extended visit with her sister, Mrs. j. D. Graham. Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Greene and family spent the week-end at Shallotte visiting relatives. The Raeford Garden club met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Israel Mann with Mrs. Harry Greene serving as assistant hostess. Mrs. W. T. Covington, chairman, presided. During the business session Mrs. Younger Snead was appointed conservation chairman. Mrs. W. D. McLeod and Mrs. Younger Snead presented an in teresting program, during which time Mrs. McLeod discussed “When And How To Plant Dog woods,” and Mrs. Snead gave a paper on “The History and Care of The Poinsettia.” At the end of the program the hostesses rerved ambrosia and fruit cakie. 0 BUNDY-WRIGHT Mr. and Mrs. A. He had been visiting the Graham Dicksons in Ft. Lauderdale and came to Raeford with Mr. and Mrs. Tommie 'Upchurch. Mrs. Bruce Morris is a patient at Moore County Hospital. Mrs. C. L. Black retimied to her home in Greensboro Sunday after having spent several weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dickson. Mr. and Mrs. Dickson and Pete ac companied her to Greensboro for the day. Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Upchurch and Bettie and Eloise returned Sunday from a ten day stay in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Mrs. Lillian Blue McEachern and Sandy McEachern) spent Christmas in Atlanta, Ga. with Mr. and Mrs. Pat Wright. They came to Raeford the latter part of the week for a visit with Mrs. W. M. Blue.
