The'table had a flow er centerpiece, all white, on eith er side of which were candles in epergnettes filled with white pansies. Miss Marie Cameron ser ved frozen lime punch and the guests served themselves to a variety of sandwiches, cookies, nuts aiid mints from the table. When they gathered back in the living room Miss Gulledge was presented with a kitchen shower, all useful gifts from those present. Score cards and other features emphasized the Raster season, and the spirit of the holiday was evident. There were four tables playing rook and two bridge. Mrs. Grady Leach won the prize in rook and Mrs. Lawrence McNeill ill bridge. A delicious luncheon, was served at 1 o’clock. EVENING PARTIES On;Friday and Saturday even ings the husbands of the three hostesses ♦joined them as hosts. Couples were 4nvited in for bridge at seven o’clock. There were eight tables. in\piay on Friday evening and six on Saturday. A turkey dinner was served on both even ings before the game. Mr. ^nd Mrs. Archie Howard made the highest combined score on Friday and .received the prize. Mrs. Paul Dickson, Sr. and Hinton McPhaul were winners of high score prizes on Saturday. Fourteen of Jerry’s Mends were present and after many ^mes were play ed inside, an Easter egg hunt took place in the spacious back yard of the home. The little guests were then invited into the house where they were served ice cream and cake. The dining table was beautifully decorated and centered with a large birth day cake decorated in green and white. Jerry Received many gifts. Prior tp the ceremony a pro gram of nuptial music was pres ented by Thomas McFadyen, or ganist, and Mason Bell of Fay etteville, soloist. Given in marriage by her fath er, the bride wore a traditional candle light satin gown, fashion ed w4th a portrait neckline of sheer illusion yolk. A shoulder framing ruffle caught in quaint sheerings gave the off-the-should- er effect. A fitted bodice topped a very full skirt that correspond ingly was caught with sheerings to drape softly about its hemline. She carried a bouquet of garden ias. The bride’s sister. Miss Louise Long, was her maid-of-honor. She ',carried a bouquet of pink carnations. Miss Etta Mae Dees of Rock- fish and Miss Ellen Parker of Laurinburg, nieces of the bride, were bridesmaids. They wore or chid and yellow taffeta dresses and carried bouquets of mixed flowers. Little Miss Linda Kaye Dees, grandniece of the bride, was flow- girl. Mrs. Daniel Wright, who be fore her marriage on April 2 was Miss Bettie Benner, was honored Monday morning when Misses Martha Ben and Nita Gulledge entertained at the home of the latter. Guests were invited to ar rive at 10:30'and enjoyed an hour of informal conversation during which time they served cokes wiA accessories. Benner and Betty Davis. —0 RECENT BRIDE- SHOWN COURTESY Mrs. Daniel Wright, recent bride, was shown an attractive courtesy last Saturday afternoon when Miss Betty Holtzclaw, who was home for Easter from Win- throp college, entertained in the upstairs living room at Hotel Raeford. Guests making up three tables were invited to arrive at 4 o’clock. They were served a delicious des sert course, after which several progressions of bridge were en joyed. The hostess presented the honoree with a gift of crystal in her chosen pattern, and Mrs. Wright was then presented with a shdwer of miscellaneous gifts from the guests present. 0 MISS GULLEDGE CHOSEN ]\fflARSHAL AT ECTC Miss Nita Gulledge is among the sixteen women students at East Carolina Teachers College who have been chosen as marshals for the coming school year. The marshals will act as ushers at college programs and entertain ments of various kinds. Positions as marshals are responsible ones and are sought by large numbers of students at the college, the re cently elected group having been chosen from- 35 candidates. 0— MISS .BLUE MEMBER OF HONOR COUNCIL G. C. Lytle and daughter, Mrs. B. L. Miller returned to Raeford Saturday after spending several days in Hopewell, Virginia, wehere they went to attend the funeral of Mr. Lytle’s sister, Miss Essie Lytle Friday afternoon. Miss Lytle died last Wednesday. She had been a resident of Williams burg for the past 19* years. She lived in Chester, Va., prior to moving to Williamsburg and was a native of Catawba, N. C. Funeral services were conducted 'in the chapel of Shanko Funeral Homef Hopewell, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. She is survived by four brother other than Mr. Lytle and one sister. ———0 Mr.*, and Mrs. Crawford Wright spent Sunday in Knightdale in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Com my Wall. They went especially to at tend the christening of their grandson, Neil Crawford Wall, at the Knightdale Methodist church, after which Mr. Wright was giv en a surprise birthday dinner at his daughte;*’s home. er nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. Long, Jr. Immediately after the cererriony a reception was held at the home of the bride. For traveling, Mrs. English wore a light blue suit with navy accessories, and gardenias from her bouquet. After the wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. English will be at home in Rockfish. Pvt. H. B. Nixon, Jr. is home on leave from Ft. Jackson, S. C. He will report to Ft. Dix, N. J., from which place he will Be sent to the Carribean area, after his furlough ends. Miss Christine McPhaul of Washington, D. C. is spending this week in the home of her sis ter, Mrs. W. J. Coates.
