One hundred sixty-six (166) women attended the 14 Home Demonstration Club meet ings and 137 4-H' Club girls were present at the five 4-H Club meet ings. Garden slides were shown and explained and reasons for planting gardens, varieties for planting in this section, growing early vegetable plants and insect control were also discussed. Mrs. Mary L. (Bill) Horner, Sanford publisher seeking the Democratic nomination to congress from the Eighth Congressional District, will address voters over a district wide radio hookup from 6:15 to 6:30, Tuesday evening, April .18. (Adv.) i % NOTICE OF NEW REGISTRATION For All Voters Of Hoke County, North Carolina Notice is hereby given to all voters of Hoke County, that a new regis- stration has been ordered by the Hoke County Board of Elections for each and every voting precinct in said County. The Registration books will be opened at each voting precinct in, the county, beginning on Saturday, April 29 at 9 o’clock A. M., 1950, and will remain open each Saturday for the reg istration of voters through Saturday, May 13th. The following Saturday, May 20th will be challenge day and the Primary Election will be held on Saturday May 27th. The voters in Mildouson Precinct (Stonewall Township) may register at the Dundari-ach Trading Company Store, in Dundarrach, as has hereto fore been the custom. A list of the Registrars who will have charge of the Registration will be published in this paper next week, and also posted at the Court House Door in Raeford. While the Registrars will be at the re spective voting places on the Saturdays above named, except as to Mildou- * son where the registration will he held at Dundarrach Trading Company Store, as aforesaid^ any voter desiring to register on any other day than Saturday between the 29th of April and 13th of May, may do so by seeing the Registrar in his or her Precinct. This new registration is called for the reason that a new registration book is being installed in each precinct as provided by the last General Assembly, and it is desired that the new book shall contain, as near as pos sible, an accurate list of the qualified voters of each precinct in the County. It is urged that every qualified voter in the County, register during this registration period, whether or nojt you have heretofore registered, as the old registration books will not be used and you must be registered in the new book in order to vote. Rowland, Chairman The Home Demonstration Agent spent one day in Clinton attend ing a program planning confer ence to discuss methods of set ting up the 1951 program of work. She also spent two days in Ra leigh with the executive boards of the State Home Demonstration Agents Association and the N. C. Federation of Home Demonstra tion Clubs. The Pine Forest Home Demon stration Club served lunch to the Hoke County Board of Commis sioners and Mr. J- A. McGoogan. the County Auditor, on Monday March 6, the day of their regular monthly meeting. Mrs. B. L. 'Wil liamson, Mrs. Mary Helton, and Mrs. F. E. Lewis served the meal. Twenty-one women attended leaders’ training school which was held by Miss Julia Mclver on Friday afternoon, March 31. Hoke High Home Economics teaeher and the Home Agent attended a district 4«H Clothing meeting at Southern Pines. The morning program consisted of a discusdim on spring and summer fabrics, points on shopping and hdw lead ers can assist 4-H Club members. Mary McLean, Ellen Kate Koonce, Katherine McDonald and Pat Rit ter of the Hoke High School 4-H Club served as models in the Fashion Show in the afternoon. The members of the Telephone committee met as a group in the Home Agents office once during the month. At other times they came in individually to plot pro spective customers on the survey map which is to be taken to the State REA office on Wednesday, April 5. , Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Matthews of the Bqchan Community are giving an acre of land on the Aberdeen-Laurinburg Highway where the Buchan Community Building is to be built. The people in the community* plan to raise money during the summer and fall and hope to start the build ing next winter. Mrs. Matthews offered the plot of land at the March meeting of the Buchan Home Demonstration Club and after' some discussion it was de cided to plant sweet potatoes on the land, harvest them in the fall and sell them to make some money to be used toward build ing.
