There were two tables in play with Mrs. Bill Lament and Mrs. I. - Mann guests other than club members. Mrs. Kenneth MacDonald won the club prize for making highest score and Mrs. Lament won the visitor’s prize. During the game Mrs. Murray served an iced fruit drink. A salad course was served after the game. o- — TEEN-AGERS HAVE CABIN PARTY OPEN MEETING OF WOMAN’S CLUB NEXT WEDNESDAY A group of the teen-agers en joyed a cabin party and spend- the-night at McDonald’s cabin last Saturday night. They were chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. Ken McNeill. Those making up the party were: Misses Jane McKeith- on, Jo Anne Holtzclaw, Ethel Sue Gulledge. Iris Thomas, Fannette Gore, Sarah Jane Cole, Florence Cameron, Jean Carroll Sherrill, Betty and Mary Sue Upchurch. 0 ARMY OFFICER’S WIVES MEET The four departments of the local Woman^s club will hold an open meeting next Wednesday, October 11, at 3:30* o’clock at the Hoke High School auditorium. An interesting program is being plan ned, during which Miss Margaret Watt of the Graded School faculty will speak on her recent Europ ean tour. All members are urged to attend. 0 r— attend DISTRICT MEETING OF WOMAN’S CLUB Among those from Raeford who attended the 9th District Meeting of the Federation of Woman’s Clubs at West End yesterday were: Mrs. W. B. Heyward, president of the local club, Mrs. T. B. Up church, Mrs. L. M. Upchurch and Mrs. N. L. McFadyen. COUPLES CLUB ENTERTAINED Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Upchurch, Jr. entertained the couples club Saturday evening. Arrangements of beautiful dahlies were effect ively used in the rooms in which tables were placed for bridge. Those playing were club mem bers and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gat lin guests. W. .T. Gibson won the prize for high score and Charlie Morrison was given ^ low score consolation gift. Mr. and Mrs. Gatlin were also given a gift. Members arrived .ground two o’clock and were ser ved a delicious dessert” course, after which the afternoon was spent* in playing bridge and ca nasta. 0- Mrs. Preston Kelly, who has had an apartment in the home of Mrs. John Walker, has ' bought the house that Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Amos and soil are now occupying in Sunset Hills, Mrs. Kelly and two children will move' into the house in the near future. The meeting will be held at 7:30 and all members and officers are urg ed to be present.- 0 FRANCES WARD GREENE HURT ON BICYCLE While Frances Ward Greene was riding her bicycle last Thursday near her home, she accidently turned over and hurt herself quite painfully. Her chin was cut and her tongue was so badly cut that several stitches had to be taken. She was carried to Highsmith hos pital for treatment. WOODMEN CIRCLE INSTALLS OFFICERS The Supreme Forest Woodmen Circle, Cedar Grove No. 179, held its installation service for new of ficers for the coming year on Tues day evening at the Woodmen of the World hall. Mrs. Hazel Musselwhite of Lum- berton served as installing officer and^rs. Buie of Fayetteville ser ved as chaplain. The Grove pre sented Mrs. Ruby Conoly, past president, with a gift as a token of their appreciation for her ser vice as president for the past two years. Mrs. Florence Macko was installed as new president. 0 Mrs'. Harvey Cole and Mrs. Ruth Bridges went to Florence, S. C. Monday and brought Mrs. Cole’s mother, Mrs. Mary Avent, back to Raeford with them for a visit to Mrs. Cole. Ih a candlelight ceremony, characterized by dignity and beau ty,’ Miss Augusta Lee Collier of Whiteville became the bride of Sergeant Robert George Davis of Charlotte and Cherry Point, Sun day afternoon, at" five o’clock in the Western Prong Baptist church of Whiteville. Rev. A. D. Frazer officiated at the double ring cere mony. Mrs. Davis is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Collier of Whiteville, and was recently em ployed in Raeford at Keith’s Beauty Shop. Sgt. Davis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Davis of Charlotte. —0 RICHARDSON - PARKS Mr. and Mrs. Noah Alton Rich ardson of Eagle Springs announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Dorothy to Julian Evander Parks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert W. Parks of Aberdeen. The wedding will take place Sunday. October 8, at the Big Oak Christ ian church at Eagle Springs. Miss Richardson is a graduate nurse of the N. C. State Sanator ium at McCain, where she is now assistant surgical supervisor. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Cole, who have occupied one of the Matheson duplex apartments since they 'were built, have moved to Fayetteville and are living with Mrs. Cole’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Owen.
