i PAGE SIX THE NEWS-JOURNAL THURSDAY, FEBRUARY S, 1955 I NT L -Chopper Rowi- (P) TMI UPPrft ROOM HASMVIllI TFNNFSf I When Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him. (Luke 8:40.) Read Luke 8:37-40. For nearly two thousand years Christians everywhere have pray ed daily, "Thy kingdom come." It has been their mainstay and their most cherished hope. Yet it has not come. Yet, as early as in John the Baptist's day the kingdom of God was at hand. Did not John say so? What, then, is the mystery of the kingdom of God? Christ said, "The kingdom of God cometh not with observation," but "the king dom of God is within you." Ever since the days of John the Bap tist, many persons have misun derstood the phrase, "at hand" to mean, "to come soon." They overlooked the one necessary con ditionwhich was and still is necessary repent, and believe the gospel. The kingdom was within them; that is, within their reach. In this sense it was "at hand." But they were not wait ing for the Christ, not willing to receive Him. In our day the kinsdom comes f S 4 rr to you and me if we repent of our sins and believe in the truth of the gospel and in Christ as our personal Saviour. PRAYER Our Father, we thank Thee that the kingdom is within us within our will, within our reach, at hand. This day grant us faith to accept Christ as our Saviour and Thy gift of the kingdom. We pray in the blessed Saviour's name. Amen. Thought For The Day "The kingdom of heaven is at hand." Max Zalcman (Israel) OBEY THE TRAFFIC LAWS Get low cost Farm Bureau auto insurance save up to 25.
