Mrs. Carlton Niven, Social Reporter, 875-3785 . Durham-Fowler Wedding Saturday At Rockfish Miss Carol Lynn Fowler, daughter of Mrs. Henry J. Fowler of Route 2 and the late Mr. Fowler, and Stephen McCoy Durham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill M. Durham of Raleigh, were married Saturday at 7:00 pjn., at Tabernacle Baptist Church at Rockfish. The Rev. Carl Strickland and the Rev. Joe David Fore officiated for the double ring ceremony. Two baskets filled with white, blue and yellow daisies, mums and pompons, and four branched candelabra decorated the church. Music was furnished by Mrs. Cary Christ, organist, and Mrs. Jennifer Gibson, who sang Song of Love, The Wedding Song, Blest Be The Tie, and Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee. Miss Kathy Marie Fowler attended her sister as maid of honor. She wore a long white dress with wide dust ruffle and embroidered with pale blue stripes and yellow flowers and a picture hat trimmed with daisies. She carried an arm bouquet of daisies, baby's breath and two red roses. Bridesmaids, wearing dresses and hats like the honor attendant's, were Miss Stephanie Durham of Raleigh, sister of the bridegroom, Mrs. Dave Hill of Wake Forest, and Miss Debbie Powell of Shallotte. They carried arm bouquets of daisies and mums. The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Allen C. Gibson of Richmond, Va. She wore a white polysatin dress overlaid with organza, fashioned with sweetheart neckline, long full sleeves with lace cuffs, and deep ruffle and the hemline. Her chapel-length veil was accented with venise lace and she carried a bouquet of daisies centered with a cymbidium orchid. The bridegroom's father served as best man and ushers were Mike Bryant of Fayetteville, Mark Pittman of Sanford, and Lynn Honeycutt of Burlington. The mother of the bride wore a floor length pink dress with lace sleeves. The bridegroom's mother was attired in a long blue dress with blue, green and white sheer jacket. The mothers were each presented a long stem red rose at the concluaon of the ceremony. Children in the wedding were Miss Dayne Bundy of Rockfish, and 'Michael Lovette of North Wilkesboro. Fo Bowing the cremony both families gave a reception in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. R.V. Tanner of Rockfish and Mrs. Tracy Garner of Carthage poured punch and Mrs. Johnny Allen of Rockfish and Miss Wanda Hardee of Cullowhee served cake. Also assisting were Mrs. Hunter Forbis, Mrs. TTiomas McColl, Mrs. Donald Wood and Mrs. Homer Terry. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bundy said goodbyes. After a wedding trip to the mountains the newlyweds will be at home in Cullowhee. The bride is a graduate of Western Carolina University with a B.S. degree in nursing. She is employed by C.J. Harris Hospital in Sylva. The bridegroom is a senior at Western Carolina University majoring in biology. He is a member of Alpha Phi Omega fraternity. Rehearsal Dinner A country style dinner was served to about 55 guests Friday evening in the church fellowship hall, following the wedding rehearsal. Pre-Nuptial Party Mrs. Johnny Allen, Miss Teresa Allen and Mrs. R.V. Tanner entertained with a dinner party on August 9 honoring Miss Fowler and Mr. Durham at the Golden Corral Steak House in Fayetteville. Mrs. Stephen McCoy Durham 50th Anniversary September ,.L i !' * Bride-Elect Howard and Julie Ray celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 31st at their home with their eight children. 30 grandchildren. 12 great-grandchildren, and friends present. Their wedding vows were renewed by the Rev. Franklin Davis. Invitation Members of the First Baptist Church invite friends of the Rev. and Mrs. Jack Mansfield and family to attend a reception in their honor to be held Sunday, August 22, from 3 to 5 in the church fellowship hall. The Mansfields have accepted a call to the First Baptist Church of Carrboro, and will be moving from Raeford next week. Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Hinnant recently returned to Hoke County to make their home after living in Florida for a number of years. Edith Ruth, to Donald Earl Kennedy, son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Kennedy of Fayette ville. The wedding will he held at noon on September 4. in the First Baptist Church. Goldthwaite. Texas. Miss Browning, a student at South western Baptist Theological Semi nary. is a 1975 graduate of Howard Payne University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. A 1976 graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mr. Kennedy received a Master of Divinity degree. He ulso holds B.S. and M.A. degrees from Appala chian State University. Presently he is B. S. U. director for New Mexico State University in Las Cruses. New Mexico. He is a member of the A.A.U. and recently competed in the Olympic trials. His mother is a native of Hoke County and his father is employed at McNeill and Willis. The Highland Fling Red Springs, N. C. The wedding will take place on October 17. at 3:00 p.m.. at the Raeford United Methodist Church. Miss Ivey is a graduate of East Carolina University with a B.A. degree in history. Mr. Spivey. also a graduate of East Carolina Uni versity. is employed on the teaching staff at La Grange Junior High School near Kinston. The bride's parents invite friends and relatives to attend the cer emony. Mrs. Alan McGee of Raleigh was a guest this week of her sister, Mrs. R.B. Lewis. Luncheon Honors Misses Jordan, Austin Debutantes Suzanne Jordan and Jane Austin were honored with a luncheon held last Thursday at the home of Mrs. J.W. Walker. Hostesses were Mrs. Julius Jordan, Mrs. J.H. Austin and Mrs. Wyatt Upchurch. Yellow daisies centered the dining room table and three auxiliary tables where places were laid for 20 guests. Hostess gifts for the honorees were corsages of yellow daisies and charm bracelets with a medallion engraved with the debutante ball date. Mclnnis Reunion Held Sunday More than 150 members attended the 49th annual Mclnnis Clan Reunion Sunday at Dundarrach Presbyterian Church. President Mrs. R.C. Andrews gave the welcome and presided. Special music was by Mrs. Henry McArthur, Mrs. Fred Powell. Mrs. LeeMcCaskill and Bobby McBryde. Mrs. A. A. Mclnnis was recognized as the oldest member and was presented a corsage. Harold Gillis gave a talk on "What does your family tree mean to you." Officers elected for next year are: Henry McArthur of Roanoke, Va., president; Laverne Mclnnis of Maxton, vice-president; and Mrs. Lee McCaskill of Carthage, secretary -treasurer. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Amory and daughter, Mary Pat, of Dunedin, Florida, visited friends in the Shiloh Community on Sunday. A number of their friends in the community entertained them at a picnic at Sinclair's Pond. . Out of towns guests were Miss Sarah Ruark of Dunn and Miss Connie Floyd of Greensboro, debutantes and Meredith College classmates of Miss Jordan and Miss Austin. Jane and her escort, Stewart Hair, and Suzanne accompanied by Joe McGougan, attended a party Saturday night at Bay Tree Lake. The occasion honored four Clinton debutantes, the Misses Ann and Betsy Barwick, Betsy Vann, and Ellyn Faircloth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Haywood Faircloth who are formerly of Raeford. Suzanne and Joe were houseguests Saturday night of Dr. and Mrs. Doug Clark and Mary Jo of Lumberton, at their White Lake cottage. Thursday night, Suzanne and Joe attended an Hawaiian luau at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Jack Dunlap in Lumberton. Other hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scott and Mr. and Mrs. John Grantham. Debutantes being honored were Jeanne Bridger of Bladenboro, and Sally Britt, Mary Jo Clark, Lee McLeod and Georgia Wellington of Lumberton.
