District Court Man District Court Judge Joseph Du pree sentenced a 19-year-old man jo six months in jail after he Iileaded guilty to a temporary arceny of an automobile charge. Weldon Lee Baldwin, Jr., Rt. 1, Box 2S8, Lumber Bridge was accused of taking a Chevrolet Camaro belonging to Harvey Farm er, Rt. 3, Raeford. Baldwin was credited with 42 days in jail pending trial. Hilton Jacobs, Rt. 2, Box 68, Raeford, pleaded not guilty to an injury to personal property charge. He was found guilty and sentenced to six months in jail, suspended for two years. Jacobs was also ordered to pay $500 restitution for the Insurance. Company of North America. He was also charged court costs. Jacobs was accused of firing a pistol into a 1974 Monte Carlo automobile belonging to Elizabeth Smith McLean. Theron Wayne Sandy, Rt. 1, Aberdeen, was found not guilty of an injury to personal property charge. James Charles McCallister, Rt. 1, Red Springs, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled sub stance (marijuana) and was or dered to be committed to the custody of the N.C. Department of , Correction for a term of not less ; than one day nor more than six Receives Six Month Term For Car Theft months, with the sentence sus pended for two years. He was cautioned not to violate any nar cotic control laws for two years and was fined $150 plus court costs. Samuel McMillan, P.O. Box 613, Raeford, pleaded guilty to a second offense charge of driving while under the influence of intoxi cating beverages and was sentenced to six months in jail, suspended for two years. McMillan was required to surrender his license to the clerk of court and ordered not to drive for 12 months. He was fined S200 plus costs and told to follow the guidance of his probation officer in regards to alcoholic rehabilitation. Clarence Benjamin Gray, Siler City, was given a six month suspended sentence after he plead ed guilty to DU1 and speeding 84 in a 55 MPH zone. He was ordered to surrender his license for the 12 month suspension period. Gray was granted a limited driving privilege and fined S200 plus costs. Eugene Harris, Rt. 2, Box 507, Raeford, pleaded not guilty to charges of second offense DUI and giving a false name and address to a law enforcement officer. He was judged guilty and sentenced to six months in jail. Harris was also charged with resisting arrest. He again pleaded not gudty and was found guilty and sentenced to three months in jail scheduled to begin at the expiration of the previously imposed sentence. Harris gave notice of appeal on all charges. Louise Johnson Morris, P.O. Box 614, Raeford, pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .10 per cent or more and was sentenced to be confined to women's quarters, N.C. Department of Correction, for six months. The sentence was suspended on the condition that she surrender her license and not drive other than as provided for in a limited driving privilege for a period of 12 months. Morris was also fined $100 plus court costs. Orlando Glenn Patterson, Ft. Bragg, pleaded guilty to DUI and was sentenced to 90 days in jail, suspended for 12 months. He was ordered not to drive for that period, except as set out in a limited driving privilege. Patterson was fined $150 plus costs. James Long, W. Prospect Ave., Raeford, pleaded guilty to public intoxication and was sentenced to ten days in jail, retroactive to time of commitment. Howard Rufus Hayes, Jr., 702 Saunders St., Raeford, pleaded guilty to an inspection violation and to having unsafe tires on his vehicle. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended, and fined FIRE - Raeford Fire Department volunteers were called out late Wednesday afternoon last week to 404 W. Sixth Ave. to fight a fire which broke out in a storage building. The fire was already out of control when firemen were called but the flames were doused before the blaze could spread to the nearby residence. Apparently no one was at home at the time. Box 852, Raeford, was fined S10 and costs of action after she pleaded guilty to using a registration plate issued to another vehicle. Amos Lee Jones, Rt. 1, Box 822, Raeford, pleaded guilty to charges of excessive speed, no financial responsibility and displaying a fictitious registration number plate. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail. The defendant gave notice of appeal. Jeff Edward Jeffries, Southern Pines, pleaded guilty to charges of following too closely and uninten tionally causing the death of anoth er person while in violation of a state motor vehicle law. He was sentenced to 12 months in jail, suspended for two years, and fined $100 plus costs. He was further cautioned not to violate state motor vehicle laws for two years. Larry Chavis, Rt. 3, Box 209 D, Red Springs, was sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended, and fined $25 plus court costs after he fileaded guilty to driving without a icense. Harrison McPhaul, Rt. 1, Box 668, Red Springs, was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, and fined $15 plus costs after he pleaded guilty to speeding 70 in a 55 MPH zone. Reginald Lydell McRae, Rt. 1, Box 523 B, Raeford, pleaded guilty to speeding 45 in a 35 MPH zone, and was given a prayer for judg ment continued for two years. Benjamin Pembroke Powell Jr., Rt. 3, Box 30 W, Hamlet, was given a prayer for judgment con tinued after he pleaded guilty to speeding 67 in a 55 MPH zone. Neil Ray, Rt. 1, Box 626, Raeford, was sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended, and fined $25 plus costs after he pleaded guilty to driving without a license and excessive speed. Kenneth Wayne Williams, Fay etteville, pleaded guilty to, speeding 67 in a 55 MPH zone and was fined $5 plus costs. Henry Locklear, Rt. 2, Box 69 F, Raeford, pleaded guilty to speeding 82 in a 55 MPH zone and was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, and fined $25 plus costs of action. David Govan Sease Jr., Rt. 3. Box 12 E, Raeford, pleaded guilty to exceeding a safe speed and was ordered to pay court costs. The probation judgment of Earnest D. Dickens was found to have been violated during Friday's court session. He was ordered to begin serving his previously sus pended 12 month sentence. Laverne Ray was found in viola tion of his probation judgment, but after consideration by the court his probation was continued. Kenneth Helms, Timothy Barton and Billy D. Allen each waived probable cause hearings on charges of felony escape. Steve Carter, Sandhill Youth Center, pleaded guilty to two counts of escape and was sentenced to six months in jail to begin at the expiration of the sentence currently being served. The following cases were given voluntary dismissals: Reginald Ly dell McRae, Rt. 1, Box 523 B, Raeford, failure to appear; Dewey Edsel Suggs, Rt. 1, Box 106 A, Aberdeen, DU1, fourth offense, and DWLR; Leo Stephens, Rt. 1, Box 174, Raeford, assault; Dorothy Locklear, Rt. 1, Aberdeen, tres pass; Sylvester Locklear, Rt. 1, Aberdeen, assault on a law enforce ment officer; Claude Bennett Jones, Rt. 1, Raeford, unsafe movement; Weldon Lee Baldwin, possession of a stolen vehicle; William McMillan, Rt. 4, Red Springs, possession of marijuana; Harlee Cummings, Jr., Rt. 1, Box 217 A, Aberdeen, assault; Larry Barker, Rt. 2, Raeford, injury to real property; Larry Michael McRae, McCain, careless and reckless driving, Stoney Scott Locklear, Rt. 3, Box 2/1, Red Springs, carrying a concealed wea pon and DUI; Peter Nelson Dock ery, P.O.
