HINT ? Mildew stains are not a
summer problem if treated
properly.
In order to prevent permanent
mildew stains, Anna Peele, the
assistant home extension agent, has
the following tips:
?Remove mildew stains as soon
as they are discovered, time permits
the fabric to rot and weaken.
?Brush off surface growth out
doors, sun and dry thoroughly.
?To remove mildew stains use
lemon juice, salt, and the sun as a
bleach. Moisten the stain with
lemon jucie and salt and spread in
the sun, rinse thoroughly then dry.
Use with caution on colored
fabrics.
?Diluted household chlorine
bleach can also be used to remove
mildew stains. Dip the stain into
the solution and rinse thoroughly.
Colored fabrics should be pretested
for color change. Never use a
chlorine bleach on silk or wool.
?Nonwashable articles with mil
dew stains should be dry cleaned.
