? Brookshire-Altman Vows Spoken
Saturday At First Baptist Church
Miss Deborah Lynne Altman
and Garry Lynn Brookshire of
Raleigh spoke their wedding vows
at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon
at the First Baptist Church of
Raeford. The Reverend Billy Bea
ver officiated at the double ring
ceremony. The bride is the daugh
ter of Maj. and Mrs. William
Terral Altman, Sr., (Ret.) of
Raeford. The bridegroom is the son
of Mrs. Alta B. Heatwole of
Whispering Pines and the late
Thomas A. Brookshire.
A program of nuptial music was
presented by Mrs. Sandra Futtrell,
organist, of Southern Pines and
Miss Jane Sellars, vocalist, of
Raeford.
The altar -was graced by floral
arrangments of white snapdragons
and carnations, blue and yellow
daisies, yellow statice and gypso
philia, placed on colonial columns,
against a background of brass
candelabra and shaefflera plants.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a formal gown of
white polyester organza fashioned
with sweetheart neckline, delicately
laced to the empire waistline and
full skirt ending in a sheer ruffle
and extending into a chapel train.
The bodice featured an overlay of
scalloped Chantilly lace which also
graced the deep cuffs of the bishop
sleeves. Her chapel veil of lace
edged silk illusion was held by a
circular band of Chantilly lace. The
bride carried a colonial bouquet of
yellow roses, stephanotis, and blue
gypsophilia and bridal ribbon
made by the mother of the bride
groom.
Mrs. Gayle Dew of Raleigh
attended her sister as Matron of
Honor. Her formal gown of yellow
chiffon was designed with empire
bodice and flowing skirt. The sheer
overblouse featured a banded neck
line, long sleeves and fitted waist,
all accented by an embroidered
floral design. She wore a matching
picture hat and carried a design of
yellow and blue daisies and pep
peromia, tied with yellow ribbon.
Wearing costumes and carrying
bouquets identical to that of the
Matron of Honor was Miss Carol
McDuffie of Raeford. Maid of
Honor, and bridesmaids Mrs.
Carol Altman of Raleigh, sister-in
law of the bride, Mrs. Gayle
Saunders of Rockingham, Mrs.
Betsy Lowe of Raeford, and Miss
Jane Brookshire of Southern Pines,
sister of the bridegroom.
Mst. Brent Richardson of Ran
dleman was ring bearer.
David Blue of Carthage served as
best man. Ushers were William
Altman, Jr. of Raleigh, brother of
the bride. Jack Cornell of Raleigh,
Terry Tillman and Bobby Green,
both of Carthage, and Dale Frye of
Pinehurst.
The mother of the bride chose a
formal gown and matching jacket
of pink dacron and white orchid
corsage for her daughter's wed
ding. The bridegroom's mother was
attired in a formal gown of
turquoise crepe, and she also wore
a white orchid corsage.
Immediately following the cere
mony, a reception was given by the
bride's parents in the fellowship
hall of the church.
Following a wedding trip to the
coast, the couple will be at home at
Sumter Square Apartments in Ral
eigh.
The bride is a graduate of Hoke
County School and attended Uni
versity of North Carolina at Wil
mington. She is a graduate of
Sandhills Community College
where she received an Associate in
Applied Science Degree in Health
Occupations. She is employed as a
Respiratory Therapist at Rex Hos
pital in Raleigh.
The bridegroom was graduated
from Union Pines High School and
attended Wingate College. He also
is a graduate of Sandhills Com
munity College where he received
an Associate in Applied Science
Degree in Health Occupations. He
is employed as a Respiratory
Therapist at Wake Memorral Med
ical Center in Raleigh.
REHEARSAL DINNER
On Friday evening, a rehearsal
dinner party was given by Mr. and
Mrs. George Heatwole at their
home on Lakeshore Drive in Whis
pering Pines for approximately 55
guests.

Sarah McDonald attended the
North Carolina Women's Con
ference at Montreat last week.
Mr?. Frank Williamson and Mrs.
Ricky English and son, Brian,
spent last week at Holden Beach.
They were joined by their husbands
for the weekend.

McNeill is the granddaughter of the

McNeill. The bride-elect is a

as a dental hygienist in Hertford
and Edenton. Her fiance is a
graduate of Albemarle Academy
and attended Campbell College

presently engaged in farming. The
wedding is planned for August 6 at
the St. Pauls Presbyterian Church.

and candy, during progressions.
Mrs. Martin Webb was the high
scorer for the club, and Mrs. Davis,
visitor's high. The bingo award was
won by Mrs. Berder Niven.
