Reereatfcm ^p-erson nel will pick up any of these articles if Senior Citizen Outing All senior citizens interested in going to see the outdoor drama "STRIKE AT THE WIND" Thursday, JuW 14, are urged to get their S3.25 turned in to the recreation office by Friday, July 8. The first 35 to come and pay will be permitted to attend. Tha trip will leave at 6:45 p.m. from the back door of the Raeford United Methodist Church. If by July 8, 35 senior citizens have not pre- registered to attend, the trip will be open to anyone interested in seeing the drama. Cost of the trip will be $4 for tickets and gas for all those other than senior citizens. The recreation office is located in the old library building across from the post office on Elwood Avenue. The phone number for information is 875-5603. Volleyball Underway Six teams are enrolled in the co-ed volleyball league which meets Monday nights at 7 in the Gibson gymnasium. Judging from the practice action last week. The News-Journal team will be the one to keep your eyes on. They really had their opponents HUFF-ing and puffing to keep up! League competition begins June 27. All participants must be high school age or over. The Huffers and Puffers call themselves the Set Makers. Rounding out the league are the Buchholz Bombers, Hoke Recreation Spikcrs and the Humdingers and a sixth team as yet unnamed. Crafts Activities Crafts activities for the summer playgrounds program have been announced. For the week of June 27 - July 1, craft stick houses, God's eye medallions and honeycomb placem&ts and bookmarks will be made. For the week of July 4 - 8, raffia baskets and napkin rings, foam hats, magnets, soap mitts, headbands and nature plaques are scheduled. Activities for succeeding weeks will be published later. Walk-a-thon Nets $1,391 The Hoke County Parks and Recreation Commission's and the Hoke County Jaycee's Walk-a-thon raised 51,391.66, recreation direc tor Don Slaughter announced. Raeford, is eligible to win a free trip to Scotland and 51,000 as a result of scoring a hole-in-one at the Scotch Meadow Golf Course. The winner will be announced early next year. The top money earner was Zeke Wiggins with a total of $511.25.
