Mrs. Louia L. Wattcn The weather for the past few days had made us wonder if Spring really ha* arrived - but don't you worry - a few months from now ? we'll look back and remember when ? - it was COLD! Galatia Presbyterian Church reports they had an unusuaily large crowd Sunday. We had no news from the other area churches. The Rockfish Home Demonstration Club met Tuesday morning at the home of Mrs. Amos Grant. Mrs. Ethel Monroe spent the weekend at Long Beach with Mr. and Mrs. Graham Monroe of Raeford. Mrs. Herman Koonce and Mrs. George Monroe spent Friday night in Rowland. On Saturday they attended a meeting of the UDC. The community extends sympathy to the wife and family of Mr. Sidney Sumner who died Friday. Mrs. Sumner (Marian Gibson) is a former resident of Rockfish. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight English and daughter, Samantha of Conovcr spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Grady English. Mrs. Sharon Hutchison, who recently had surgery at Cape Fear Valley hospital, is convalescing at the home of her parents, Rev. and Mrs. Carl Strickland. Mr. and Mrs. June Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Long and Mrs. Mae Maxwell of Raeford visited Mr. and Mrs. Winford Brock of Fayetteville Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Brock, Sr. visited Mr. and Mrs. Richard Brock of Laurinburg Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Terry have returned from Copperas Cove, Texas where they spent two weeks viating their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Terry and Mrs. Terry's brother, Mr. and Mrs. John McColl and family. Mrs. Alice Allen and Nancy Thornton of Fayetteville spent the weekend with Miss Theresa Allen in Wadesboro. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Gibson of Richmond, Virginia are visiting his mother, Mrs. R.H. Gibson, Sr. Mrs. Lawrence D. Long of Fayetteville and Mrs. Louise Watson visited Mrs. Alma Parker, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Allen in Selma Wednesday . Mrs. Lawrence Barnard has returned from London, England where she spent 8 days. Mrs. Barnard reports she was impressed most^of all with the beautiful Cathedrals. She had the opportunity to visit all the major ones. Mrs. Ethel Monroe, Mrs. M.L. Wood, Sr. and Mrs. Irene Currie of Raeford met at the home of Mrs. Wallace McLean in Raeford Friday for lunch. They reported a very good time and a delicious lunch. Mrs. Truman Tally and Mr. Offie Holcombe of Winston - Salem spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Dees. They attended the funeral of Mr. Sidney Sumner at Lumber Bridge Sunday. Mrs. Mavis M<?all of Maxton visited the Dees' Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Lacy Koonce and children of Lumberton visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Koonce Sunday. Mrs. L.B. Bundy has been sick at her home here but we are glad to hear she is improving. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Turecik and Betas' Marathon Dance Raises $200 For Arthritis Group The Junior and Senior Beta Clubs of Robeson Country Day School at Red Springs have raised S200forthe North Carolina Arthri tis Foundation with a marathon dance. Winn Simmons, a senior, served as disc jockey. Betsy Watson is Senior Beta president, and Bill Thompson, Junior Beta president. Mrs. Doris Hartsfield. a teacher of secondary mathematics, is spon sor of the senior club, and Mrs. Linda Howell, of the junior club. Mrs. Thomas Wood of Fayetteville and Mrs. Minor McGougan of St. Pauls visited Mr. Will Monroe Sunday. Mrs. Effie Forbis of Lumber Bridge visited the Homer Terry* last Wednesday. Mrs. Oscar Wood spent Thursday and Friday with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Bullard of Fayetteville. Mrs. Viola Mclnnis and Mrs. Myrtle Carter visited Mrs. Mary Mclnnis and Thomas Sunday. Abo visiting were the family, Mr. and Mrs. Angus Mclnnis of Wagram and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mclnnis of Fayetteville. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sakobie visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Barnard last week. They left Sunday for Washington, D.C. We extend sympathy to Mrs. Marshall Newton, her brother ? in - law, Mr. Charles Rozier of St. Pauls died Sunday. Rocky Wood of Mars Hill College left Sunday after spending the Spring ) Holidays with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wood, R?jcky and Robert went fishing at Sneeds Ferry | this weekend. The weather rather rough for fishing but bring back some oysters. Miss Mary McFadyen of C\ Arms Rest Home in Raeford visiting her sister, Mrs. Bet. Stephens and Mr. and Mrs. Rob Wood. Mrs. Mark Heath and daughf Emily of Clio, South Carolina visit Mr. and Mrs. Paul Heath last week. Mr. Dan Wood of Latta, Sout Carolina had lunch with hi grandmother, Mrs. A.W. Wood, S Monday. Those visiting Mrs. Woe Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Ron2 Monroe and sons, Ronald and Jaso of McCain and Mr. and Mrs. Wihoi Wood oC/'Raeford. Mrs. Wood ha been sick for several weeks. They carried a gift for each resident of the home. This was such a thoughtful gesture. We all should remember the shut-ins more. Mrs. David Miller of Fayetteville visited in the community Tuesday.
