LITTLE MISS FOOTBALL - Leah Conofy. 10-year-old daughter of Jimmy and Frances Conoly of Rt. 4, Raeford, won the title of Little Miss Football of 1980 last week. The game was scoreless in the first half. As the hard-hitting and good defensive plays continued in the third quarter, the Packers fumbled the ball on their 27-yard line. Terry Brasier recovered the fumble for the Rams and ran it back 53 yards for a Ram touch down. Robert McKoy ran up the middle for the extra point. McKoy also had runs of 6 yards. 5 yards and 8 yards for the Rams. Other outstanding players for the Rams were James V. Locklear who recovered a Packer fumble. Chris Kinell tackled a Packer running back for a 3-yard loss, and Michael McGougan sacked a Packer quar terback for a 3-yard loss. All players on the defense and offense of the Rams played an outstanding game also. The Packers didn't give up. The Packers had a great chance to score when Charles McMillian recovered a Ram fumble on the Packer 14-yard line but the Packers could not push it across the goal line. Leading players for the Packers were Mickey Oxendine with runs of 8 yards and 18 yards. Ronnie Bullard carried the ball 7 yards for the Packers. Packers teams recovered a Ram fumble on their 1 1 yard line and another one on the 25 yard line but failed to score. The action continued November 4. The Redskins defeated the Steclers 12-0. The Steelers held the Redskins scoreless in the first quarter. Leading player for the Redskins was Charles Douglas with runs of 7 yards and 5 yards. Douglas re turned a Steeler punt 40 yards for a Redskin touchdown. Extra point was tried but failed. Douglas recovered a Steeler fumble for the Redskins. Adell Baldwin sacked a Steeler quarter back for a 3-yard loss. Earl Locklear stopped a Steeler running back for a 3-yard loss and Gerald Oldham sacked a Steeler quarter Steelers, Redskins Win All Star Contests The Midget Football All Star Game was played Saturday night at Hoke High Stadium. In the first game, the Steelers defeated the Packers b-0. Travis Thomas had runs of 21 yards for a first down, a 10-yard run for a first down, a 32-yard run for a first down and a 10-vard gallop for a Steeler touchdown. Extra point attempt failed. Mac Langdon. quarterback for the Steelers. threw a 17-yard completion to James MeCormick for a first down. Pat Grace tackled Packer running back for a 5 yard loss. The Steelers played an out standing game, not allowing the Packer offense to score. Barry Sumner picked up some good serving points for Hoke Auto along with William Johnson. The Wild Bunch was sparked by board. Oxendine also threw a pass for an interception. Jim McDonald recovered a Packer fumble on the 25-yard line. Charles McMillian stopped Steeler running back for a 3-yard loss. The Packers played an outstand ing game but could not put any points on the board. In the second game, the Red skins defeated the Rams 16-6. The Redskins scored first on a 62-yard run by Charles Douglas for a touchdown. Extra point was good and the Redskins led 8-0. Douglas had runs of 11 yards. 13 yards, 7 yards and 6 yards, and a 15-yard run for another Redskin touch down. Extra point attempt was good. Bryan Norris completed an 11 yard pass to Pat Clark for a first down. Redskin defense and offense played outstandingly. But the Rams didn't give up. Robert McKov ran 64 yards for a Ram touchdown. Richard Jones who gathered y points. The second match 6f the night went to the "X's" as they downed the Spikers in three games 15-7, 12-15, 15-12. Jerry Locklear led the "X's" with 15 serving points. The Spikers battled tough and received excellent efforts from Gil Lindsay and Randy Krainiak. The only match of the night to conclude in two games was be tween Pig-N-Chicken and The Thunderbirds. Pig-N-Chicken overcame the Thunderbirds 15-5 and 15-9. Pig-N-Chicken was directed by Eddie Ramsey with 10 points. Mark Madden lead the Thunderbirds. The final round matched Bad Co. and the Raeford Jaycees. Bad Co. picked up the win 15-3, 10-15, and 15-4. Mitchell Cox gathered 20 points to set the pace for Bad Co. The Raeford Jaycees had balanced efforts from Ralph Tindall, Chuck Davis, and Charles Crowder. With Loss To Scots The Hoke County High School Bucks ended their 1980 football season Friday night with a 52-6 loss to Scotland County's squad on the Scotland field. The Fighting Scots' Anthony Floers scored the first touchdown, then teammate James White fol lowed with two, and a team safety made the score 24-0 by the end of the first quarter. Scotland scored ' two more touchdowns in the second period, then its final 14 points in i the last quarter. The game ended Glenn ( Draughon's first season as Hoke's head football coach.
