Raeford stores, a spot check shows.
The reports were given by man

all stores were checked.
"Fantastic" was the word Kathy
Daniels used to describe sales at

added the Christmas sales were a
little ahead of last year's and the
store got "a lot of out-of-towners."
Mrs. Daniels said, however,
night sales, held by downtown
stores December 14 weekdays and
Saturdays through Christmas Eve,
were not as good as she had hoped .
James Wood at Western Auto
reported the store had a "real good
Christmas, right up to the last
minute." He added nights were
"good as usual," compared with
previous Christmas season nights
but "nothing great."
Myrtle Miller at Sears, which
does a mail-order business only,
reported being "very pleased" with
December. Sales were a lot better
than last year's in the same month,
she said.
In fact, she added. Sears here
has had three good months and.
furthermore, she's been pleased
with the business it has been doing
all year.
At R&R Outfitters, manager
Ann Santa Ana reported Christmas
business was very good, and Christ
mas week's and especially Christ
mas Eve's "very, very good."
In Edenborough Shopping Cen
ter. Macks's Christmas business
was as good as last year's -- sales
were excellent -- manager Mike
Madox reported.
Christmas business also was
"real good" at Moore's department
store, manager Greg Wilkerson
said. "No complaints," he added.
"The people in Raeford have been
real good to us all year."
