With stout price increases in
plastics, it has become prohibitively
I expensive for most farmers to
" install drain tile where needed.
Why hasn't someone invented
something to provide subsurface
drainage at a lower cost? Good
news - we now may have it.
A new tile design has entered the
market called "arch-tile" that
greatly reduces installation and
material costs. With new design
equipment it is "plowed in" using a
giant subsoiler with grade set with
laser beam. As yet, little or none
(? > has been installed in North Caro
lina, but in other states under most
soil conditions, it seems to be
performing quite well.
Together with several interested
farmers, we have invited an arch
tile contractor to come explain this
new product and take installation
requests on a experimental basis
from interested farmers.
This meeting will be held at
' Raeford City Hall conference room
Friday at 10 a.m. Refreshments
will be served.
This program, just like all other
of the Hoke Soil and water
Conservation District is provided
regardless of race, color, sex, age,
