Around Town (Continued from page 1) times early Wednesday mornings folding the two page paper and when there was an insert there was extra time to put in. Not like Charlton. I can't remember what we were paid. I do remember the good times we used to have and going to Laurin burg with Mina Sessoms who was at that time taking dance lessons from some dancing school. We got to get some dancing in also, but 1 never have learned how very well. Evelyn Smith is now Evelyn Kelly and is supervisor in Central Ap pointments at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio and I, Louise am now Louise McDiarmid and work here at the Hoke County Library. Thinking back. 1 guess you would call this a time in "the good old days." Some folks take excep tion to the idea of "the good old days,' "way back when," yet any time you are remembering your youth it always seems good or was such fun; to this person anyway. Louise McDiarmid Miss EKOH (Continued from page 1 ) personality, appearance, evening gowns and an interview with the judges. The contestants include: Connie to Carter, Sandra Heustess. Providing the same punishment to the "pusher" as to the first - time user is not justice. Students accused of supplying the drugs should be turned over with the evidence to the civil authorities. --BL I The Upper Room 1 am one ot many persons who helps in a "loaves and fishes" meal program. We cook the meal, serve it. and eat with the guests. Some of the people have low incomes, are unemployable, or have problems with mental or physical health. Others have alcohol problems. All are ex periencing hard times. . P I really love these people. Many are gentle, sweet, and very courteous. On the evenings when I have the privilege ot handing out trays. 1 am the first person to greet each guest. It is such a pleasure tor me to serve them. As 1 greet each guest, I look into his or her eyes and think. "God loves vou. So do I." As one man took this tray | tonight, he smiled back, then shyly whispered to his friend. "She's beautiful." I am not beautiful. I am very plain. But God's love is beautiful. This is what my new friend saw in my eyes, and this kind of beauty is available to all of us. As my friend smiled, he looked beautiful to me. PRAYER: Dear Lord, help us to remember that You love each of us as if we were Your only child, i , Amen.
