Arm Wrestling Contest
On March 29
Who's got the strongest arm in Hoke County? Hoke County
Parks and Recreation Commission will be sponsoring an Arm
Wrestling Contest to determine who does have the strongest
right or left arm! The contest will be held at the Gibson Gym on
Monday, March 29, at 7 p.m.
In order to compete you must fill in the registration blank
below and return to the Parks and Recreation office prior to 5
p.m. on Wednesday, March 24. The contest will be a double
elimination tourney with the following weight divisions:
Right handed Left handed
0-135 0-176
136-150 177-up
151-165
166-185
186-200
201-220
There must be at least four participants per division before a
trophy will be awarded. The winner in each division will receive
a trophy. There is a $1 .00 entry fee per participant. Each partici
pant will be weighed prior to the start of the competition. No
cheating!

Celebrated
Flora Macdonald Academy cele
brated its Homecoming February
The week preceding the Home
coming game the students had
Spirit Week. There were such
activities as Mr. Irresistible Day.
Mix-match Day. and Western Day.
Then on Friday the Homecoming
activities were held in the Lumber
ton Recreation Center. Both the
girls' varsity basketball team and
the Boys Varsity Basketball team
competed. The visiting team was

During half-time of the boys'
game the Homecoming Court was
presented and the new Homecom
ing Queen was crowned. The

Plants 15-4. and 15-9. Jcancttc
Townsend and Marilyn Dial
gathered 15 points to iead Mi
chaels. The Potted Plants were
sparked by Judy Taylor and Kathy
Long.
Also at 7:15. the Debatables
downed Nixon's Misfits 15-7. and
15-6. Ginny Johnson served nine
points to direct the Debatables.
while Becky Baker paced Nixon's
Misfits.
Excitement continued at 8 as the
Potted Plants out battled the
Hide-Aways 15-8. and 15-12.
Sharon Blue picked up 8 straight
points tor the Potted Plants. Diane
Scarboro and Shirley Melton led
the contention tor the Hide-Aways.
The most thrilling match of the
niuht naircd Michael's and the
Young and Restless. Michael's
picked up the win 15-8. 9-15.
18-16. Both teams battled in a real
struggle tor victory. Outstanding
efforts were displayed by both
Michael's and the Young & Rest
less.
To cap the action, the Aggressors
downed the Hide-Aways 15-4. and
15-5. Delisa and Krystal Lunsford
along with Joy Hottel led the attack
by the Aggressors. The Hide-Aways
were directed by Sara Norton.
