AFTER COLLISION ?? This is the damage left at Carter s Exxon on U.S. 401 south near Raeford when the car at right ran into a gasoline pump Saturday. The service station s manager. James Carter, suffered injuries to a shoulder and a leg when he fell as he was avoiding the oncoming car. He was treated by a Raeford doctor at the doctor s office and did not require hospitalization. Carter said he acted by reflex, putting his hands on the cars hood and jumping away. Carter said he didn t know what damage amounted to in dollars. The station is owned by Raeford Oil Co. Other details of the accident were unavailable. [Staff photo by Pam Frederick. ] Rock fish News 1 The Acteens and G.A.s' ot Pittman Grove Baptist Church are having a fund raising spaghetti dinner Saturday April 24 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the church. There will be a spaghetti plate including a salad and choice of dressing, garlic bread, a choice of Cherry Cheese Cake or brownie fudge sundaes for dessert and tea or coffee. Tickets may be purchased in advance from members of the Acteens or GA's and also at the door. Price of tickets are $3.00 from age 10 years and up, S2.00 for age 3 years through 9 years. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a nice meal. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Long of Sneads Ferry visited Mr. Longs sister. Mrs. Louise Watson last weekend. After leaving there they visited Mrs. Long's brother. Ross Rivers of Hartsville. South Carolina before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Swann are happy to announce they are proud parents of a daughter. Tiffany Rose, bom Monday March 8. at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville . Both mother and daughter are doing tine. The Swanns' have a son. Jason. The community extends sym pathy to the family of Harry L. "Bill" Reynolds who died Sat urday. March 13. Funeral was Sunday March 14 at 2:30 p.m. at Crumplers Funeral Home. Inter ment was in the Raeford Cemetery. Ed Mclnnis was a patient in the hospital in Fayetteville last week. Mrs. Earl Hair of Charlotte visited her brother. Tom Mclnnis several davs last week. She also visited her brother. Ed Mclnnis of Fayetteville who was a patient in the hospital. Mr. Watson of McPherson Pres byterian Church of Fayetteville and aiso a member of the Gideon Bible Society was guest speaker during worship service at Galatia Pres bvterian Church the past Sunday morning. There was good attendance at the horse show at Saddle Tree Farm the past Saturday. The beautiful day could not have been more perfect for it. Mrs. James Sakobie was ill the past week with a throat infection. She hopes to be able to return to work the coming week. Miss Judy Ray Epps of Stoney Point Road and Kenny Click of Fayetteville were in an automobile accident last week. The driver of another vehicle, who was driving under the influence, failed to stop for a stop sign and hit them, doing extensive damage to Kenny's vehicle. Fortunately there were no bodily injuries. The community welcomes CWO 2 and Mrs. lrvin Ellis and family to the area. Last week they moved to Camden Road in Hoke County near Davis's Bridge. He is stationed at Fort Bragg and they have two sons, lrvin 8, and Willie Nelson 3. Mrs. Charles Rozier of Parkton and Mrs. Marshall Newton visited Nolan E. Martin in Wilmington the past weekend. While there they also visited Mrs. Zula Martin at Bow den Nursing Home at Wrights ville Beach. Marshall Newton, student at N.C. State University in Raleigh w as home for "spring holidays" last week However, he was a patient in Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville for several days, so it Service Personnel Pvt. Kenqeth E. Barker, son of Charlie W. and Zadell Barker of 1 13 Wright St., Raeford, has arriv ed for duty in Baumholder, West Germany. Barker, a fuel systems operator with the 3rd Support Command, was previously assigned at Fort Lee, Va. He is a 1980 graduate of Jenkins County High School, Ga. SOCIALS - 875-2121 was not much vacation for him. He returned to school the past week end. Mr. and Mrs. Randy Watts of Wilmington were home for a visit the past weekend. Miss Judy Epps of Stoney Point Road and Kenny Click visited Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Barnard the past Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Bess Newton of Parkton is home from the hospital after spending several weeks in the hospital in Fayetteville for injuries she received from a fall. It was previously reported that she had a fractured leg. This error is deeply regretted. She has a fractured shoulder and her arm was injured also. The revival services at Sandy Grove United Methodist Church last week was very successful. The music provided by the choirs of the various churches was especially enjoyable and inspirational. The churches participating were Hill crest Church in Raeford, Ephesus Baptist Church of Arabia and Parkers United Methodist Church of the Wayside area. Ephesus Baptist Church in Arabia is having revival services this week. The Sandy Grove Methodist Church Choir will pro vide the music for the Wednesday evening service. Mrs. Louise Watson and Mrs. Grace English visited Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Watson at White Lake the past Sunday. Mr. Watson has been sick but is reported to be getting along better at this time. Mrs. Louise Watson and Mrs. Grace English visited Rev. and Mrs. Carl Strickland in Rocking ham last week. Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Pardue of North Wilkesboro spent last week end with Mr. and Mrs. Alton McCulloch.
