Those little white specks in this field across front Economy Food Center on N.C. 21 1 at the western edge of Raeford are sea gulls. They are in one of at least four Jlocks of gulls observers reported seeing around Raeford Monday morning. Why they were traveling around so far inland wasn t found out. One man guessed a coastal blew them west. The photographer couldn t get closer than this because the soil in the field was wet and soft. But when he tried to get a picture of a flock at the Pig-N-Chicken on the U.S. 401 south bypass, the birds took off when he came within a hundred feet of them. Other gulls were seen on N.C. 211 east, about a mile from Raeford. and near Timberland. Off course or not. the gulls seemed to be having no trouble finding food. A man at the Pig-N-Chicken made sure, though. He tossed food out for them [ Staff photo. ] Magistrate's Court The following Hoke County ma gistrates' judgments were issued last week.
