Holowchik-Halstead Couple
Exchanges Wedding Vows
Debrah Jean Halstead and
Michael Charles Holowchik spoke
their wedding vows on Saturday,
March 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the
Stoney Point Baptist Church with
the Rev. Leon Humphrey and the
Rev. Mr. Richard Phillips.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Lewis E. Halstead of
Raeford. She is a graduate of Hoke
County High School and is em
I ployed at Faberge.
The groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. John Holowchik of Panama
City, Fla. He is a graduate at
Rutherford High School in Panama
City, Fla., and is stationed with the
US Navy as an Air Traffic Con
troller.
The altar was flanked by two
scven-branched candelabra en
twined with greenery. Two white
columns held baskets of spring
flowers.
A church Bible, opened and
surrounded by babies' breath, was
displayed next to the Unity Candle^
which was lit by the bridal couple.*
A program of wedding music was
presented by Mrs. Terry Parker,
pianist, and Mrs. Karen Elledge
sang "For Once In My Life" and
"Always and Forever".
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a gown of antique
I white satin with a bodice overlay of
imported lace with a scooped
neckline. Her fingertip veil was
held in place with a cap of lace and
seed pearls. She carried a nosegay
of yellow roses and white carna
tions. She wore a double strand of
pearls.
Judith Smith served as matron of
honor for the bride. She was attired
in a Carolina blue polyester gown
l with lace bodice and waist sash.
She wore babies' breath in her hair
and carried two yellow roses with
blue streamers.
Bridesmaids were Kathleen
Holowchik. sister of the groom.
Panama City, Florida; July Hal
stead. Mt. Gilead; and Julie Smith
also sister of the groom, of
Charleston. S.C. They were attired
like the honor attendant but car
ried one yellow rose.
Children attendants were Jen
niter Halstead who served as flower
girl and Amy Parker, junior bride.
She was attired in an antique white
satin gown with sheer sleeves and
babies' breath in her hair. She

like that of the bride. George Keefe
of East Hampton. Mass. served as
best man. Ushers were James
Halstead. Mt. Gilead; John Holow
chik.'Va. Beach. Virginia and
Tony Whitfield of Fayetteville.
The mother of the bride wore a
rose colored gown with long sleeves
and a waist length cape. She also
wore a double carnation corsage.
The groom's mother was attired
in a gown of peach color. She also
wore a double carnation corsage.
The couple will make their home
in Washington.
REHEARSAL DINNER
The grooms parents. Mr. and
Mrs. John Holowchik hosted the'
rehearsal dinner on Friday night at
Western Steer in Fayetteville.

United Methodist Church Fellow
ship Hall.
Hostesses were Mrs. Frances
Hawkins and Mrs. Myrtle Currie.
Upon arrival. Miss Compton was
presented a corsage of white mums.
After guests were greeted and
gifts were displayed, everyone was
invited to enjoy refreshments of
punch, cake squares, nuts and

Fifty guests called between the
hours of Five and Seven. They were
greeted by the host and hostess and
John Cameron.
The guests were invited into the
Living Room, Dining Room and
Den where Abby, Ann and Sylvia
Cameron assisted in serving an
informal Buffet.
The dining table was covered
with an imported cutwork linen
cloth centered with a silver bowl
filled with an arrangement of fresh
Spring flowers and white candles.
Guests served their plates trom
trays of smoked turkey. Ham.
homemade breads, cheese and
vegetable assortments, cheese bis
cuits, sausage balls, vegetable
sandwiches, dips and marinated
mushrooms. The sideboard held a
large tray of fresh pineapple boats
filled with various fruits and des
serts.
A silver punch bowl was filled
with Planter's Rum Punch and
Bavarian Cinnamon Coffee Cream
was served in the den.
Large arrangements of Mag
nolia. Spring Fruit Blossoms and
lighted candles were used for
decorations.
Miss Mercer was remembered
with a corsage and she and Mr.
Davis were given a leather bound
book for their wedding memora
bilia.
