I Students Active In Save i \ Lighthouse Week This past week has been an exciting "Save the Lighthouse Week" for Hoke school children. They have enthusiastically created exhibits and works of art and collected recyclable cans. The sale of these cans will benefit North Carolina's efforts to save the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. When such a large project actually happens (long after the planning), there are many people to thank. The children themselves are first, their eagerness to participate and learn makes working with the schools thrilling. - Their teachers, principals, and assistant principals led the children by supporting the project. Mary Archie McNeill. Florence Cohen, and Kaz Autry helped in planning and facilitated our plans beyond the call of duty. Sarah McNeill gave seashells for the children, and Crawford Thomas hauled and sorted cans. I thank you all. For further information about the Save Cape Hatteras Lighthouse effort, please contact me or our local library. Contributions to this effort are presently being collected by a local committee. Checks can be made to "Save the Lighthouse" and mailed to P.O. Box 42h. Raeford. Sincerely. Kay Thomas.
