Bucks Finish Third, Second In Track Meets The Hoke High boys' track team placed third in a triangular meet with Richmond and Scotland County, then finished the regular season by placing second in a quadrangular meet with Pinecrest, Scotland and Reid Ross. In the triangular. Jay Headen was the Bucks' only individual winner, taking the 200-meter dash. The 800-meter relay team com posed of David McNatt, Willie Bridges, Ricky McNeill and Headen won also. Headen placed second in the 100-meter dash. Edward Watson placed second in the discus and fourth in the shot put. Paul Hunt ran his best time of the year -- 9:47 -- in the two-mile run and placed third in the mile. Lafayette Beats Pittman Pittman Grove played host to Lafayette Baptist of Fayetteville and lost. 20-10. Lafayette was led by torrid home-run hitting. Pittman Grove played a fine defensive game but Lafayette's homers helped the visitors get the win. Pittman Grove was led in hitting by Mike Carter with two for two, Raymond Shepley with two for four, Sandy Prevatte. two for three, and Tommy McColl. two for two. The next outing for PG will be in the Invitational Tournament at Fayetteville Saturday. The team will travel to Lake Lynn for another outing Monday night. WAGON WHEEL RESTAURANT THURSDAY ? On Thursday, the Bucks scored 69 points, finishing behind Pine crest. which scored 92, and ahead of Scotland with 64, and Ross with 31. Hunt won the mile and two-mile runs. Watson came within 2Vi inches of tying the school record for the discus throw, with a toss of 140 feet 2Vi inches. Headen won the 200-meter and placed second in the 100-meter dashes. The mile relay team won. Ronnie McRae placed second in the mile and fourth in the 800-meter run. D. feMUte*. McMillan placed second in the 400. Michael McPhatter finished third in the mile and fifth in the two-mile. Darrell Cromartie was third in the shotput and discus. Jerry McMillan placed third in the 400. [Staff photo. ] Hoke Special Olympics May 13 (Staff photos) Hoke County's Special Olympics of 1982 will be held May 13 at Hoke County High School Stadium. The program will start at 9 a.m. with the Parade of Athletes, like the one held that opens the international Olympic Games. The first events of the Special Olympics will start immediately after the parade ends. The contests are expected to end about 3 p.m. A special attraction will be a skydiving exhibition by the Raeford Parachute Team. She won three first-place ribbons in the Cary Express Invitational Meet which was held at the Cary Senior High School Stadium* Cary, May I. She placed first in the 100-meter dash (time 12.68 seconds); first in the long-jump (distance 4.62 meters); first in the 400 meter dash (time 64.54 seconds); and ran last leg for a youth relay team which placed third. Her coach awarded her with a ticket to the all-star game held at Pinecrest High School on May 3 for her outstanding performance. She is coached by Joe Wynn of Southern Pines.
