Jr., were married on Saturday, May 22. at 3:00 p.m. in the Raeford United Methodist Church with the Rev. Arthur Winstead officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Vann Clark. Jr. of Fayetteville. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Samuel Young of Raeford. The church altar was decorated with ferns, white candles, and a pink floral arrangement. Mrs. Nancy McNeill, organist, provided nuptial music. Escorted by her father, the bride wore a ballet-length candlelight gown of Chantilly lace fashioned with high collar, leg-of-mutton sleeves, tucked bodice, and back sash. She carried a silk bouquet of pink and white roses and babies' breath. Miss Sharon O'Donnell of Fay etteville was maid of honor. She was attired in a crepe dress of pink and mauve with matching jacket and carried a spray of pink and white silk roses and babies' breath. Mr. Young served as his son's best man. Ushers were Tim Young, brother of the bridegroom. James Warner, George Autry and Gary Gentry. The mother of the bride wore a light pink shirtwaist dress with lace accents on the sleeves and bodice. The bridegroom's mother wore a light blue shirtwaist dress with coordinating belt. After a wedding trip to St. Simon Island. Georgia, and Savannah. Georgia, the couple will be at home in Monroe. The bride is a graduate of UNC-Wilmington with a degree in Business Administration and is currently working on her MBA at Campbell University. The bridegroom is a graduate of N.C. State University with a degree in Wildlife Biology. He is employed by the Monroe -Equirer Journal of Monroe. Hostesses were Mrs. Harold Gillis, Mrs. Leonard Ellis, Mrs. Jack Pope and Mrs. Ed Willis. Raeford Junior Woman's Club Attend Banquet The Raeford Junior Woman's Club held their annual banquet on Sat.. May 22, at the Holiday Inn in Southern Pines. The club was called to order by their president Jane Britt. An invocation was delivered by Betty Odom after which a delicious dinner was served. For entertainment Judy Strother and Andrea Scarborough per formed three lovely musical pieces. Also John and club member, Connie Ferguson gave a serious and yet comical review of the clubs accomplishments for 1981-82. The main event of the night centered around the installation of the clubs new officers. Mrs. Ann Hostetler installed the officers and was presented a gift of appreciation by the Club. The new officers included Jane Britt - Pres.. Connie Ferguson - 1st V. Pres.. Linda Stanton - 2nd V. Pres., Peggy Southerland ? Sec., Beverly Paster nak - Treas., Betty Odom - Hist., and Donna Tew - Chap. The last event of the evening included the two year end awards. Clubwoman of the Year was pre sented to Jane Britt and the Citizenship Award was given to Peggy Southerland. After the meeting all members were invited to gather at J. Alberts for more fun. Couple Honored With Dinner Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kinlaw entertained Joy Hottel and her fiance, Sam Warren, at Lakeside Seafood Restaurant on Friday night, May 21st. Twelve friends and relatives enjoyed the meal and fellowship. Miss Hottel was presented a corsage upon her arrival and later the couple received a vegetable bowl in their chosen pattern from the host and hostess. The table was decorated by Mrs. Leanna Lester with an arrangement of pink roses and babies' breath flanked by pink candles in crystal candlesticks. The hostesses presented the honoree with a corsage of pink roses and with an electric blender. An arrangement of pink roses enhanced the dining table. * * * On Sunday, May 9, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Winchester and Mr. and Mrs. Raz Autry entertained at a cookout to honor the bridal couple. A hamburger and hot dog cookout was enjoyed by guests on the patio of tjie Autry home. Tables covered with red checked cloths and centered with hurricane globes were set for eighteen. Homemade ice cream and cake were later served. An electric ice cream freezer was presented to the honoed couple by the hosts and hostesses. Parks-Carawan Couple Wed In Swan Quarter SWAN QUARTER - The wed ding ceremony celebrating the union of Peggy Ann Carawan and Julian Evander Parks Jr. was solemnized Saturday, May 1. at twelve o'clock noon in the Provi dence United Methodist Church. The double ring ceremony was performed by Father Jerry Sherba. of St. Gabriel's Parish of Green ville, and the Reverend Nevin D. Snyder of Providence. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy J. Carawan, Sr. of Swan Quarter and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Evander Parks Sr. of Raeford. A program of wedding music was presented by Gail Potts, organist. Dawn Parks, sister of the bride groom, sang "The Lord's Prayer," and the Reverend Harvey Estes sang "The Wedding Song" and "PsTam 23." Sallie Miller was the directress of the ceremony. Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin and reembroidered Chantilly lace. It was fashioned with an off-the-shoulder neckline, Chan tilly lace over the bodice and applied at the waist. The lace full sleeves were shaped at the wrist with a button and thread loop closing. The sheer skirt and chapel train were designed of white satin. She wore a waltz-length mantilla of illusion accented with silk lace motifs. She carried a cascade bou quet of white and pink silk roses, gypsophila, and purple violets. The matron of honor, Mrs. Roslyn Smedberg of Greenville, and maid of honor, Neda Carawan, niece of the bride of Myrtle Beach, S.C., wore gowns of lavender eyelet designed with a wide shaped inset midriff, elasticized off-the shoulder neckline and self ruffle and underskirt. Their bouquets were silk mixed summer flowers with gypsophila. They also wore purple and pink violets in a laurel in their hair. The bridesmaids. Mrs. Elayne Waeltz of Greenville, Mrs. Terry Pridgen of Macces field. Mary Beth Kifer of Grimes land, Mrs. Marsha Unverferth of Winterville, and Mrs. Laura Grimes Harrell of Winston-Salem wore gowns identical to the honor attendants, in colors of pink and white. Their bouquets and head ieces were also like that of the onor attendants. Arthur Carrera of Greenville attended the groom as best man. Ushers were Roy Carawan Jr., brother of the bride, of Myrtle Beach. S.C. Andrew Parks, brother of the bridegroom, Raeford. The mother of the bride selected a formal gown of pink chiffon embroidered with pearls around the sleeves and neckline. The groom's mother wore a formal gown of nylon crystal sachet with the tiers of the skirt, and bertha collar trimmed with imported French lace. She wore a wrist corsage of deep pink and white rose buds. * ? * A wedding reception, given by the bride's parents, immediately following the ceremony, was held at the Swan Quarter Agriculture Hall in Swan Quarter. REHEARSAL DINNER A post -rehearsal dinner, given by the bridegroom's parents, was held at Jarvis Restaurant in Swan Quarter. The tables were decorated with white tablecloths with laven der streamers, pink candles and a center arrangement of pink, white and lavender carnations. The wedding party enjoyed a seafood buffet, and the couple was enter tained afterwards by their friends. BRIDESMAIDS* LUNCHEON Mrs. Marsha Unverferth of Winterville, a member of the wedding party, and her mother, Mrs. Pauline Grass, entertained at their home with a bridesmaids' luncheon on Sunday. April 1. The party enjoyed a brunch of Irish minestrone, chicken salad sand wiches, assorted cheeses and crackers, deviled eggs, other finger foods, and lemon chiffon cake. The bride remembered her attendants with gifts at that time. PRE-NUPTIAL SHOWERS On Tuesday evening, April 6, there was a miscellaneous shower given in honor of Peggy Carawan by Mrs. Marsha Unverferth. Mrs. Elayne Waeltz, Mrs. Diane Garris, Mrs. Roslyn Smedberg, Mrs. Terry Pridgen, and Mary Beth Keifer. in Winterville at the home of Mrs. Unverferth. Upon arrival, the bride was remembered with a white daisy porsage with lavender ribbon which complemented her lavender printed dress. The table was decorated with candles and spring flowers on a linen tablecloth. The cake was done in the design of wedding bells. Also served was fondue, sausage balls, chips and dips, fresh vegetables, taco dip, and punch. Approxi mately 25 guests called.
