The amazing Blazers put to
gether back-to-back victories again
last weekend.
"Strong pitching, solid hitting
and aggressive team play will do it

ing of 27 big hits and 17 runs
scored. The Blazers now have a
record of 12 wins and 3 losses tor
the season.

beat rival Ft. Bragg 7-5. After an

Softball action continued the
night of June 1, with the All Stars
defeating Jones Intercable 12-6.
L. Morrison 4-4, W. Walker 2-4,
and P. Miles 2-4 were leading
batters for the All Stars. Jones
Intercable offense attack came
from W. Johnson 3-3, D. McNeill
3-4, and H. Daniels 2-3.
In the second game, ^Hard &
Heavy edged out Raeford Mer
chants 9-8. Hard & Heavy scored
four runs in the seventh inning for
the victory. Hard & Heavy's leading
batters were R. Leggett 2-4, V.
Morrison 2-4, and M. McDougald
2-3. R. Wilcox 2-4, J. Henley 2-3,
and C. Crowder 2-3 were the
leading batters for Raeford Mer
chants.

A's go down to defeat by Hollings
worth's Barbers 13-5. C. Patter 3-3,
G. Hollingsworth 3-4, and B. Hurst
2-4 were leading batters for Hol

In Thursday night action, the
first game the All Stars defeated
Raeford Merchants 6-3. R. Maynor
3-3. W. Walker 3-3, and A.
Breeder 2-3 were the leading
batters for the All Stars. Merchants
were led by B. Bell 2-3. R. Frahm,
C. McDufrie, and F. Bell were all
1-3.
In the second game. Jones
Intercable nipped Hollingsworth
Barbers 4-3. Leading batters for
Jones Intercable were R. Taylor
2-2, M. Lewis 2-3. L. Chason and
D. McNeill each hit home runs to
help capture the victory. Hollings
worth's leading batters were J.
Carthens 2-3. L. McDonald 1-3.
and B. Hurst 1 -3.
In the last game. Hard & Heavy
defeated Beasley's 17-10. Hard &
Heavy scored four runs in the
seventh inning to capture the win.

early two-run first-inning jump by
the visiting soldiers, the Blazers
traded blow for blow and went
ahead in the fifth inning to stay.
Kenny Carpenter pitched for the
home team and went the distance,
scattering five hits. Mike Nieves,
Stanley Cummings. Bruce Hurst,
and Carpenter were the big sticks
in the Blazers' effort.
On Sunday, the Blazers went to
Red Springs and easily won out
over the Orioles 9-5, and going
away. In this one, our guys
punched out IS hits against
neighbor Red Springs's 6. with
Raschad Rahmann of the Blazers
striking out 10.
Cecil Blakes's grand slam homer
in the fifth inning was the highlight
of the day for Hoke's squad. Dick
McNeill hit a steady pace, going 4
for 5 at bats, and Bruce Hurst and
Stanley Cummings added the rest
of the batting attack for the day.
Hurst and Carpenter share the
team's hitting spotlight, each with
a batting average close to .400.
The Blazers will play away this
weekend, and the next home game
will be played on June 19, at 3
p.m., at the Hoke High baseball
field.

Excessive argument by a coach or player will not be tolerated by the
umpire. Umpire judgement shall be FINAL.
Any coach who cannot accept defeat, an umpire's decision or ruling
graciously will have bad influence on the players for whom the pro
gram is intended. Any coach who continues to do this will have to
forfeit his position as a coach for the betterment of the program.
