I, John K. McNeill, Mayor, City of Raeford, and John G. Balfour, Chairman, Hoke County Board of Commis sioners do hereby proclaim the month of June to be NATIONAL RECREATION AND PARK MONTH, and urge all citizens to participate in the many programs of recreation offered by the City of Raeford and the County of Hoke during June. Three Bov Scouts and their Scoutmaster from Scout Troop 404 became members of the Order of the Arrow by completing the Ordeal of the Order at Camp Bowers May 28-30. The purpose is realized through a Fourfold Ordeal which includes spending the night in the woods alone, complete silence, hard work and a limited amount of food. To become a member of the Order of the Arrow one has to be selected by vote of the Scouts in the troop in which he is registered, and show he intends to live by the scout oath, laws and spirit. Troop 404 is sponsored by Raeford United Methodist Church. Hunt Fifth Paul Hunt placed fifth in the State High School Track Meet May 28 in the 3.200-meter run. He broke a school record by four seconds, covering the distance in 9 minutes 30 seconds. Baseball Clinic Slated Hoke County Parks and Recrea tion Commission and the Hoke High Baseball Staff will be offer ing a one week, morning clinic for all interested baseball players ages 10-11-12. The clinic will be held at Armory Park June 21-25 from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be a $5 fee per child for the 15-hour clinic. The first 50 to register will be permitted to at tend. Roger Edwards will direct the sessions. Baseball fundamentals, such as fielding, hitting, pitching, catching, and base running will be covered.
