Social Reporter, 875-4171 Miss Gillis Becomes Bride Of Mr. Willis At Galatia Church Miss Beth Gillis and David Willis exchanged wedding vows on Sunday morning at the Galatia Presbyterian Church during the morning worship service. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Gillis of the Galatia community of Fayetteville. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Willis of Raeford. | The bride and bridegroom chose to sit with their respective families and participate in the morning worship service which preceeded their wedding. During the worship service the Chancel Choir, directed by Pattie Hasty and accompanied by Nancy Brady, organist, presented as the choral introit "Morning Has Broken", a traditional Gaelic |nelody by Eleanor Fargeon. They sang "The Gift of Love" by Hal Hopson based on 1 Corinthians 13 as the offertory anthem. Mrs. Brady played "A Trumpet Chorale" by J.S. Bach for the processional. The choir sang the closing portion of "O Perfect Love" by Dorothy Gurney as the benedic tory response. The "Prince of Denmark's March" by Jeriamiah .Clarke was used for the recessional. * Two large arrangements of mixed summer flowers flanked by tall colonial-style brass candlesticks holding single ivory candles were used on the altar shelf. An arrange ment of mixed roses grown by the bride's cousin, William J. Gillis and arranged by Wade McDougald were placed on a table in the narthex. I Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white sheer organza with Venise and Chantilly lace and appliqued with seed pearls. The gown was designed with slashed neckline, near-natural waist, camelot sleeves and full circular skirt which extended into a chapel train. Her silk illusion two-tiered fingertip veil with re embroidered lace appliques was worn with a flowered cap. She parried a colonial-style bouquet of mixed summer flowers. Kathryn Ann Gillis. of Raleigh, was her sister's honorary attendant. She wore a floral floor-length dress in shades of white, navy, green and yellow accented with a long navy ribbon at the waist. Mr. Willis served as best man for his son. The mother of the bride wore a ?street length dress of teal blue silk. The bridegroom's mother chose a street-length dress of powder blue linen. Pool Party Honors Couple Miss Beth Gillis and Mr. David Willis, who married Sunday at Galatia Presbyterian Church, were honored at a pool party on Tuesday evening, August 3 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Davis K. Parker in the Galatia Church community. Baskets, crafted by Judy Gillis McKethan and filled with summer flowers from the garden of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McKethan; ferns, lanterns and torches decorated the pool area. Tables on the lawn were spread with white cloths and adorned with pewter lanterns, ivy and summer flowers. Thirty-two guests were served homemade ice cream and were invited to create their own sundaes with toppings served on the patio with cookies, cakes and punch. Miss Gillis was presented a bouquet of white daisies, and Mr. Willis was given an electric ice cream freezer by their hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Turner. Co-hostess for the occasion was Mrs. Bill McNeill, Sr. Upon arrival Miss Tucker was presented a corsage of silk red roses. After the honoree opened gifts, guests were invited to the dining room table for refreshments of cake squares, nutty fingers, cheese biscuits, a chipped beef log. mints and punch.
