Exceptional Children's
Educators Meet
The teachers and officials of
programs for exceptional children
in Hoke County discussed subjects
and activities for the coming school
year at their annual Fall Meeting,
which was held Thursday in the
Holiday Inn in Southern Pines.
Rhenda Cameron, coordinator of
exceptional children's programs in
the Hoke County school system,
was in charge. The approximately
40 visitors were welcomed by
William W. Cameron, Jr., chair
man of the Hoke County Board of
Education, and Ivey Thigpen, ad
ministrative assistant for programs
for exceptional children, made the
introductions.
Mrs. Cameron also had an
overview of the programs.
The audience also was addressed
by Raz Autry, Hoke County schools
superintendent. Dr. Catherine
Cooke of Carthage, Region IV
coordinator for exceptional chil
dren's programs, and Wes Wil
liams, who discussed computer
awareness.
Mrs. Lee Hust led the prayer
opening the meeting. 8:30 a.m. and continued through

4-7:30 PM, Thursday. September 2, 182 in the Hoke County Library on Main Street. All
students are encouraged to register at this time. Students may also register at the 1st class
meeting if the class is not filled.
REFUNDS
A refund will be made only if a class is canceled because of insufficient enrollment.
FEES
'The classes listed in parentheses will require an $8.00 registration fee; all other classes will
require $15.00; no charge for individuals age sixty-five (65) or older. Many classes will also

RELIEF CARVING
Students are required to have accident insurance, may be purchased at the class,
$1.50/class. This class is held at Thomas Farm, Southern Pines Road.
ELIGIBILITY
Continuing Education classes are for adults, 18 years of age or older; 16 El 17 years olds may
get in under certain conditions; under 16 - may not enroll.
TEACHER RENEWAL CREDITS
Most of these classes are approved for CEU credit, contact Hank Richards - 875-2470, in ad
