Area Incidents Injury Accident, Two boys were Injured Saturday I on East Donaldson Avenue behind I.W. McLauchlin School when the bicycle they were riding wu struck by a car, Raeford Folic* Chief Leonard Wiggins reported. He said the driver was not charged. Corey Thomas, 9, of 918 N. Jackson St., Raeford, was admitted to Cape Fear Valley Hospital In Fayetteville for treatment of a I fracture of a leg, and his passenger, Damaris McLean, 923 N. Jackson, was treated at the same hospital for minor injuries, then released soon afterward, Wiggins said. He said the car was being driven east on Donaldson by Jeffrey Blake Register of327 Old Farm Rd. when the accident happened soon after the bicycle entered Donaldson from Stewart Street to travel east. ? Other cases reported to the Police Department recently follow. David Smith reported September 22 someone broke into his home at 904 N. Fuhon St. between 12:30 p.m. September 21 and 9 a.m. September 22 and stole a .22 rifle, a shotgun, a television set, jewelry and watches. Police recovered the rifle and the television set and arrested and charged Howard Simon Adams of East Sixth Avenue with breaking and entering, and larceny. John McKeithan of 213 W. Donaldson Ave., reported someone broke into his house and stole a pistol, jewelry and a watch valued at a total of $250. He said the break-in and theft were committed while he was away from home between 12:45 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. September 23.. Someone paid S6 in advance to get gasoline at The Grocery Mart on West Prospect Avenue Sep tember 24 but got $11 worth, then drove off without paying the dif Deaths & Funerals Hunter S. Carroll Hunter Stewart Carroll, 76, of Rt. 3, Raeford, died Monday evening. k The funeral will be conducted at * 2 p.m. Thursday at Ephesus Bap tist Church by the Rev. Oifton Canipe, the Rev. Richard Smith, and the Rev. Billy Beaver. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family was to be at Crumpler Funeral Home from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Carroll is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Jackson Carroll; his daughters, Mrs. Elaine Hendrix ^ of Charlotte; and Mrs. Larue Brock and Mrs. Hunter Sue Hagins of Raeford; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Lula Graham Priest Funeral services were held for Mrs. Lula G. Priest, daughter of the late John Edward Graham and Julia McBryde Graham, on Tues day, September 28, 1982 at 2:00 P p.m. in the Wall's Chapel United Methodist Church. She was born February 28, 1895 and died on September 24, 1982. She attended school in Hoke County and State Normal School at Fayetteville, North Carolina. For many years, she was a mid wife in Hoke County. Upon her retirement, she was honored by the Hoke County Health Department. | She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late John Ander Priest, and to this union, Five children were born. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mable Peace of the home; four sons, William and Thornton of Raeford, John of Washington, D.C. and Graham of the home; one foster son, Ardrie Graham of Raeford; two sisters, Mrs. L.A. Curry of Southern Pines and Mrs. Inez McCormick of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Arlington Graham of Washington, D.C.; 16 nieces; 14 nephews; four daughters-in-law; one son-in-law; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in law; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Martin L. Jacob* Martin Luther Jacobs, 61, of Rt. 1, Shannon, died September 19. The funeral was conducted Sep tember 22 at 4 p.m. at Faith Assembly of God Church in St. Pauls by the Rev. Roy Clark. Burial was in Dundarrach Baptist Church cemetery. Mr. Jacobs is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eva Bowens Jacobs; his sons, Martin L. Jacobs, Jr., and James, Henry and Anthony Jacobs of Shannon; his daughters, Miss Annette Jacobs of Shannon, Mrs. Donna Cree of Raleigh, Mrs. Judy Oxendine of Pembroke, Mrs. Marion Jones of Red Springs, Mrs. Lora Jones of Raeford, and Mrs. Lisa Locklear of Fayetteville; his brothers, Zonnie Jacobs of Red Springs,%NeTson Jacobs of Virginia, and Layrue and Lefairley Jacobs of Lumberton; his sisters, Miss Grade Jacobs and Mrs. Ivory Deese of Pembroke; and 22 grandchildren. Red Springs Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Donald Eric Creasy Donald Eric Creasy, Rt. 1, Catawissa, Pa., brother of Mrs. Leonard (Jane) Miller of Raeford, was dead on arrival at Bloomsburg, Pa., Hospital September 20 shortly before noon after being stricken while at Creasy's Orchards. He would have been 55 on October 6. His death was attributed to an apparent heart attack. Mr. Creasy and his brother, Charles Creasy, Jr., operated the orchards. He was township secretary and judge of elections in Catawissa. Samantha Witherington Samantha Witherington, 3l/j, daughter of Tom and Sharon Witherington stationed in Italy, was killed Sunday in an auto accident. Besides her parents she is sur vived by her brother. Tommy Witherington; her grandparents; Judy and Lonnie Parker of Fayette ville; and her grandmother, Mrs. Ora Burns. A power mower worth S50 was stolen September 25 from the property of Archie Byrne, 710 Fulton St. A bullet hole was found in a window of T&L Auto Parts, 106 Campus Ave., September 26. The bullet nor the person who fired it were not found. The Hoke County Sheriff's De partment received the following recently. Someone stole from a parked truck $750 worth of tools owned by Lee Carter Electric Co. The theft occurred September 24 or 25, Burley Locklear of Rt. 1, Red Springs, the driver, reported. The tools stolen were a rotary hammer drill, a Skil saw, and cutters. The case for the hammer drill also was stolen. David Allen Elledge of Rt. 2, Raeford, reported $661 worth of personal property was stolen from his home September 24 or 25. He said he discovered the break-in and theft after returning home from Aberdeen at 12:25 a.m. September 25. The property stolen included a television cabinet, an electric guitar and its cord. Someone broke into the office of Home and Land Real Estate on Rt. 1, Raeford, September 17 or 18 and stole $25 from a desk and two soft drinks costing SO cents each. Someone tried unsuccessfully to break into B&W Food Mart on Rt. 4, Raeford, September 18 or 19. Janet Lorenzo of 82 Jody Lane, Raeford, reported September 15 someone broke into her home and stole jewelry, a camera and wo men's clothes valued at a total $872. Someone broke into the home of K.Z. Nicholson, Rt. 1, Red Springs, September 23 but it was not known whether anything was stolen. Odell Miller reported someone stole two bicycles worth $140 and $59 from a shelter at his home on Rt. 1, Lumber Bridge, between September 13 and 18. Robert Moon reported Sep tember 22 $1,520 worth of personal property was stolen from his home on Rt. 1, Shannon, by someone who broke into it. The missing property includes a microwave oven, a color television set, a chain saw, a pair of bits, a Skil saw, a jigsaw and a box of jewelry.
