We southerners have a way of
preserving the best from our past.
This is surely obvious when it
concerns lovely homes such as this
one owned by Mrs. Rachel Stevens.
Mrs. Stevens', home, known as
the McLauchlin-Stevens' house, is
one of the featured homes on the
Raeford Junior Woman's Club
Christmas Home Tour this year.
Just looking at this beautiful old
home, which was built in 1853,
conjures up thoughts of past holi
days, when Christmas was cele
brated slowly and enjoyed in old
fashioned style.
Imagine how beautiful this home
will be when it is decorated in all its
Christmas finery.
It will be an especially favorite
for those experiencing the tour.

Archer, Mr. and Mrs. Younger
Snead, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Allen
Edwards, and Mr. and Mrs.

Child Abuse
Workshop Planned
The Hoke County Department
of Social Services, Health Depart
ment, and Child Welfare and
Abuse Team will be sponsoring a|^
workshop entitled, "A Communi
ty Approach to Child Abuse and
Neglect," on Wednesday,
December 1, 1982, from 1-5 p.m.
in the T.B. Lester Building.
The workshop will feature
several well-known authorities on
the subject of \child abuse and
neglect.
