Business/Industry I Ready-mix Concrete Plant Opens Here Commercial Products, Inc., opened Monday for business in production and sales of ready-mix concrete, Jack Crumpler, vice president for customer relations and sales, said Monday. The Raeford plant, the fifth in the company's chain, is located off Stewart Street near Hoke Concrete Works, a concrete block producer, from whom Commercial bought the property for its plant. Crumpler said the Raeford plant has three 10-yard-capacity mixer trucks and has up to SO more available from Commercial's other plants, which are at Monroe, Wadesboro, Rockingham and Laurinburg. The home office is in Monroe. He said the local plant has a pro duction capacity of 100 cubic yards SERVICE AWARD - On Friday, December 3 Elaine C. Hendrix received her 25 year service award from the Burlington Industries Raeford Plant. Elaine began her career on December 3, 1957 as a Winder Tender and is presently employed as a Twister Tender. In recognition of her achievement she has received a framed service certificate, charm bracelet with B. /. logo and service pin. The local office will employ five people initially and extend opera tions later to cover other products. He said the plant will sell to con tractors and to the general public. Crumpler lived in Raeford eight years while working as a state highway engineer. His wife is the former Lois McLean of Raeford, daughter of Mrs. Marianna McLean and the late Wallace McLean of Raeford. Cable TV Helping Toys For Tots Jones Intercable is sponsoring a Toys for Tots campaign to get donations of toys for needy youngsters in Hoke County for Christmas, and a donor can get, free of charge, installation of both basic and Show Time cable TV if the donor wants both. The service charge for installa tion is $7.50 for the basic and $10 for the Show Time. (The installa tion charges do not include the regular monthly service charges of $8 for the basic and $15.50 total for cable and Show Time. The company also is accepting donations of canned goods for needy families. This was announced Monday by Harrison Daniels, Raeford manager of Jones. He said anyone wanting to donate should call 875-5033, the office number, between 8 a.m. and 5p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and the donation will be picked up; and, if the donor wants Show Time or basic or both, the Jones representative will make the in stallations. Daniels said the donations would be turned over to a church conducting a Christmas campaign. The Jones number can be called by anyone needing service, whether he or she has a donation to make or not.
