Buck Wrestlers
Drop Matches
Fortune frowned on the Hoke
4 High wrestling team last week as
? the Bucks dropped two matches to
X non-conference foes, running the
| team season record to 2-4.
The Bucks lost on Tuesday night
% when they visited the Colts of Cape
f Fear High School. The Bucks lost
1 52-20 as the only points came from
2 the lightweight and heavyweight
I classes.
The match started Hoke's way
1 as Billy Locklear won the 98 pound
| weight class by a decision. Kevin
? Locklear then drew a forfeit in the
a I0S pound weight class to give
Hoke a 9-0 team score lead.
Hoke's score remained the same
as Cape Fear built up an unsur
mountable lead through the middle
weight classes.
Hoke scored again in the 167
pound weight class as Orlando
McKinnon scored a superior deci
sion to make the team score 40-14.
Robert Moody, running his record
to 4-1, closed out the match with a
pin in the unlimited weight class to
make the final score 52-20.
i The Friday night match was
^ closer against South View, but
again Hoke's middle weight divi
sions defeats spelled doom for the
Bucks as they fell 37-27 to
Southview.
Once again Hoke's points were
scored by the lightweights and the
heavyweights. Hoke jumped to a
quick 15-0 lead with a decision by
Billy Locklear. in the 98 pound
weight class; a pin by Kevin
Locklear, in the 105 pound weight
class; and a pin by Don Woods in
the 1 12 pound weight class.
Hoke's points would remain the
same until Darrell Kelly, in the 185
pound weight class, pinned his op
ponent to make the score 37-21.
The last Hoke points would come
in the 1 95 pound weight class when
Robert Moody, with a record of
5-1, pinned the Southview grap
pler.
The Bucks will compete over the
Holidays in the Pinecrest Invita
tional on December 28th at
