The funeral for Jonathan
Graham, 82, of New Jersey, were
' conducted Sunday afternoon in
McLaughlin Chapel AME Zion
Church by the Rev. C.J.
Chalmers. Burial was in Silver
Grove Cemetery.
He died December 12.
Surviving are his son, Nathaniel
Thomas of Georgia; and his
mother, Mrs. Viola Graham of
Raeford.

Mrs. Willie W. Norcross
Mrs. Willie Wright Norcross,
84, died Monday at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. J.W. Robinson
of Richmond, Va.
The funeral was conducted
Wednesday morning in Powell
Funeral Home Chapel in Southern
Pines by the Rev. Max Gilmore.
Burial was in Raeford Cemetery.
Surviving in addition to Mrs.
Robinson are a brother, P.H.
Wright of Pageland, S.C.; and a
sister, Mrs. Loney Yarborough of
Pinehurst.
Willie J. Mclntyre
Willie James Mclntyre, 57, of
Rt. 3, Raeford, died Saturday.
The funeral was conducted
Tuesday afternoon in Freedom
Chapel AME Zion Church by the
Rev. James L. Glenn. Burial was
in the church cemetery.
Mclntyre is survived by his
mother, Mrs. Mary Alice Mclntyre
of the home; his sister, Mrs. Bessie
McCray of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and
his brother, William Lacy Mcln
tyre of Brooklyn.

Woods Arrives
For Langley Duty
Staff Sgt. Ronnie J. Woods, son
of Mr. and Mrs. George Moore of
361 Polk St., River Rouge, Mich.,
has arrived for duty at Langley Air
Force Base, Va.
Woods, a public affairs
specialist with the 1st Tactical
Fighter Wing, was previously
assigned at Ankara Air Station,
Turkey.
His wife, Jacqueline, is the
daughter of Willie 1. McEachin of
Route 1, Red Springs.
He is a 1913 graduate of River
Rouge High 3thool, Mich.

Reading Pupils
Give Yule Play
Charles Dickens's "A Christmas
Carol" was presentee in full
theatrical gear just before the
holidays by the Intermediate
Reading Lab students of Scurlock
School.
The Christmas play was given
for the students and teachers of
Scurlock.
The Reading Lab teacher, Bren
da Edwards, cast, directed and
produced the 45-minute play.
"A Christmas Carol" tells the
story of a stingy, hard-hearted,
wealthy man named Eben Scrooge
who, after becoming aware of the
misery he has caused so many
others, makes a personality change
just in time for Christmas Day.
The lead actors and actresses in

mistress was Lena Gupton.
The sets were designed by Mrs.
Edwards and were made by Mrs.
Edwards and the Reading Lab
students.
Many social guests attended the
play, including parents and county
central school office people.
