Upset Hamlet
The Lady Eagles defeated the
undefeated Hamlet Red Rams
51-45 lost Wednesday at Upchurch
in a highly contested tame.
The Lady Eagles were strong on
the offcnshe board but had dif
ficulty making the easy basket.
Baci court pressure turned the
ball oxer many times for both
teams with the Eagles taking a 10-8
edge in the first quarter.
Both teams were even the second
quarter with 1 1 points each.
The momentum began to swiug
the Eagles way in the earty part of
the third quarter with a five point
edge, but the Rams rallied back in
the fourth with the clock a decisive

Changes Regulations
On 3-Party Calls
After Jan. 10, when Carolina
Telephone customers make long
distance telephone calls from pay
stations and wish to bill them to a
third party, the third party must
give the operator authorization.
T.K. McLaughlin, general
operator services manager with
Carolina Telephone, said. "This
new policy will protect customers
from being billed for calls they do
not authorize. It also will save the
company, and ultimately all
customers, costs resulting from er
roneously or fraudulently billed
calls.
"If customers have a toll Calling
Card, they can charge their calls
back to their home or business
phone. Also, some Calling Card
calls are cheaper than operator
handled bilNto-thtrd number
calk."
McLaughlin said customers who
do not presently have a Calling
Card can obtain a free Calling
Card by contacting their local
business office.

Ave., Raeford, has just returned
from Kansas City. Missouri, where
he successfully completed the
course in Auctioneering and Auc
tion sales Management at the
Missouri Auction School.
He received his diploma and the
honorary title of Colonel along
with men and women auctioneers
from throughout the United States
and Canada.
The concentrated two week
course is conducted by the
Missouri Auction School at the
world's largest auction training
center in the Kansas City
Stockyards.
His training included lectures
and work-shops featuring promi
nent auctioneers from throughout
America.
He participated in selling
numerous public auctions in Kan
sas City and nearby communities
in Missouri and Kansas.
Subjects covered included anti
que auctions, livestock, furniture,
business liquidations, real estate,
rare coin, auto, machinery, general
merchandise, all types of estate
auctions, and the rapid fire chant
of the tobacco auctioneer.
