FOG ACCIDENT ? These two cars collided in one of the three separate collisions in the thick fog on U.S. 401 and on a 1.2-mile stretch 4.2 miles south of Radford. The drivers were injured and were taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fqyetteville. State Trooper Scott Burgess, the investigating officer for the three accidents , reported. The injured were Diane Santora of Pineville, driving the Oldsmobile at left, and James William Ross. ? Radford taxi driver, but neither was believed injured seriously. A "Jaws of Life" tool was required to free Ross from his car. No charge was filed, Burgess said. ( Photo by Pam Frederick). In District Court Trespass, Property Damage Cases Heard The following Hoke County District Court judgments were issued last week. Juanita Huggins, Raeford, trespass, found not guilty. Gilbert Jones, Rt. 2, Raeford, nonsupport, pleaded no contest, prayer for judgment continued, on condition the defendant pay $35 a week for support of children. Larry McCain, Box 65, Raeford, injury to personal pro perty, pleaded not guilty, found guilty, six to 12 months suspended for three years, probation for three years, S850 restitution and costs; defendant gives notice of appeal. Charles Clifton McNeill, Rt. 1, Red Springs, worthless check, 60 days suspended, $10 fine, $60 restitution to Western Auto, and court costs. James P. Griggs, Rt. 1, Marsh ville, speeding 70 in a 55 zone, voluntary di^nis&al by the pro secutor; exceeding a safe spixd, $50 and costs. Teresa Turbeville, Red Springs, trespass, found not guilty. Jack Morris Taylor, Jr., Southern Pines, speeding 68 in a 55 zone, prayer for judgment con tinued, costs. Andre Cunningham, Raeford, communicating threats, found not guilty, prosecuting witness to pay costs for frivolous and malicious prosecution. Vincent Ross, Box 1071, Raeford, injury to personal pro perty, and larceny. 24 months in Hoke County Jail, 60 days of the sentence to be active and the balance (22 months) suspended, the defendant placed on probation for two years on conditions he pay costs, for good cause shown costs remitted, and cooperate with the probation officer in regard to psychological testing and treat ment, the probation officer to in vestigate available resources for his psychological condition; time spent in jail awaiting judgment to be credited to the suspended por tion of the sentence. Wayne Thomas, Saunders Street, Raeford, assault, six mon ths suspended for one year, proba tion for one year, $500 restitution to Benjamin Smith, pay court costs, and not assault, molest or harrass the prosecuting witness for one year. Richard Wayne Ward, 315 Crawford St., Raeford, assault on a female, pleaded no contest, prayer for judgment continued, costs, for good cause shown costs remitted. Anna L. Liles, Rt. 1, Box 337B, Raeford, worthless checks, three counts, 30 days suspended for one year, $10 and costs, and make S10S restitution to Christy Oil. Jerry Louis Baldwin, Rt. 4, Raeford, nonsupport, 30 days suspended for five years, pay $40 every two weeks for support of minor child, and court costs; costs remitted for good cause shown. Dale Daniels, Box 1045, Raeford, assault, 30 days suspend ed for one year, make $130 restitu tion to Myoshi Dudley, pay court costs, and not harrass, molest or assault the prosecuting witness for one year. Gordon Battle. Steven C. Johnson, felonious escape, one year, to start at the ex piration of all sentences which the defendant serving, the court finds the defendant shall not obtain the benefit of release as a youthful of fender. Ricky Wayne Scott, felonious escape, one year, the court does not recommend restitution or reparation as a condition of attain ing work release or parole; the court finds the defendant would not obtain the benefit of release as a youthful offender; the sentence is to start at the expiration of sentences the defendant is now ser ving. Larry Atkinson, felonious escape, one year, to begin at the expiration of sentences the defen dant is now serving; the court recommends that the defendant be given psychiatric testing and counseling or treatment as indi cated. Jeffery Smith, felonious escape, one year, to begin at the expiration witness to pay costs for frivolous and malicious prosecution.
