JV Beats T. Sanford Two victories last week boosted the Hoke High Junior Varsity basketball team's season record to ? 11-1 in the conference and 15-3 overall. In Tuesday's game against Terry-Sanford, the junior Bucks downed their opponents by 10 points, winning 54-44. "Everyone played really great," Head Coach George Drawhorne said. "We played strictly on pride," he added, noting their " good con ference record." J.V. player Marvin Maynor was high scorer with 21 points. He was nine of 12 from the free throw line and pulled down nine rebounds. Bruce Moore, who hit four of seven from the floor, scoring nine points, also brought down 12 re bounds during the game. Patrick Grace pulled down nine rebounds and added four points to the Bucks' victory. Thursday's away game also brought the Bucks a victory as they downed Pinecrest 59-49. "Everyone was outstanding," Drawhorne said. According to the J.V. coach, 13 of his 15 players scored during the game. "We are moving closer to the conference title," he added. The J.V. Bucks, who "broke" their opponents nine-game win ning streak, were led by Marvin May nor who scored 17 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Single elimination tournaments were held for the fifth and sixth grades. After many exciting games, the champions were decided. The sixth grade champs were Miss Dazarene Page's boys and girls. Miss Diane Townsend's girls and Willilam Rice's boys took the fifth grade tournament. Maynor pumped in 30 points, R. Maynor had 29, and B. Leslie added 22 points to lead the All Stars in scoring. The Tigers were led by K. Jones and N. McNeill with 24 points each, and G. Bratcher picked up 21 points. The second game of the night went to the Suns in a 88-64 vic tory over the Bullets. W. Love tossed in 37 points, and L. Black and R. McNeill threw in 14 points a piece to lead the scoring at tack for the Suns. The Bullets were led by H. McGregor with 24 points, W. Blue had 12 and R. Blue and J. Porter pumped in 8 each. Action continued on Wednesday night as the Bullets edged the Scurlock Tigers to a 68-65 win. H. McGregor and V. Sinclair pumped in 15 points each, and G. Baldwin, W. Blue and R. Blue added 10 points a piece to lead the Bullets scoring attack. The Scurlock Tigers were led by G. Bratcher with 20 points, D. Leg gett had 14 and K. Jones added 13 points. The final game of the week went to the Suns as they downed Hollingsworth Bus Company 85-74. R. McNeill and W. Love threw in 24 points each, and L.
