Butler - Lowery Wedding Vows

Carol Jean Lowery, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Lowery of
Rt. 1, Lumber Bridge and Jimmy
Reid Butler, son of Mrs. Shirley
McGirt Butler of Shannon, were
united in marriage Saturday,
February 1 1 at 5 p.m. in the
Freedom Assembly of God
Church. The Rev. Montana
Locklear officiated at the
ceremony.
The bride, escorted by her
father, wore a gown of white chif
fon and taffeta that featured a
Queen Anne neckline, fitted waist
and full bishop sleeves. The gown
was trimmed with venice and schif
fli lace and /seed pearls. The skirt
ended in a cathedral-length train.
Her headpiece was a wreath of silk
orange blossoms and seed pearls
with a walking-length veil.
Karen Hinson of Raeford served
as maid of honor. She wore a long
burgundy gown of taffeta with a
boteou neckline, fitted waist,
puffed elbow sleeves and an A-line
skirt. She carried a silk heart with
pink flowers.
Bridesmaids were Teresa Blue of
Raeford, Charlene Jacobs of Red
Springs, Lori Ann Locklear of Red
Springs, Callie Butler of Red
Springs, Cherly Butler of Raeford,
Amy Hardin of Red Springs, Con
nie Lowery of Lumber Bridge,
Elaine Lowery of Lumber Bridge
and Eugenia Lewis of Shannon.
They wore long gowns of rose
taffeta styled with a fitted waist,
puffed elbow-length sleeves and an
intermezzo-length skirt.
Amy Bell served as flower girl
and Laura Butler attended as a
junior bridesmaid.
Rinzie McCard served as
ringbearer and Andy Humphrey
carried the Bible during the
ceremony.
Daivd Humphrey Sr. of Shan
non served as best man during the
ceremony.
Ushers were Ricky McGirt of
Shannon, Bobby D. Lowery of
Lumber Bridge, Ronnie Lowery of
Lumber Bridge, Michael Butler of
Shannon, Roger Butler of Shan
non. Tana Locklear of Shannon,
Bay Locklear of Shannon, Tim
McVicker of Burlington and
Johnny McVicker of Raefo'rd.
The groom and his attendants
wore gray Bill Blass tuxedos.
A wedding reception for the
bridal couple was held immediately
following the ceremony in the
church fellowship hall. Mrs. Peg
gie Harris of Raeford hosted the
event.
The bride is a 1979 graduate of
Parkton High School. She is
presently employed at Faberge in
Raeford.

Red Springs High School and a
1982 Central Bible College
graduate. He is presently employed
with Wilson Tree Company.
WOW Holds Meet
With Mrs. Hoire
Lodge 6179 of Woodmen of the
world held its regular business
meeting in the home of Mrs. Mary
Haire last week.
Fifteen members were present.
Virginia Crump presented each
member with a valentine.
Business consisted of the ap
pointment of committees. Ways
and Means also discussed various
money-raising projects.
A valentine motif was used with
the refreshments.
The next meeting will be March
13, at 7:30 p.m. in Mrs. Haire's
home. All members are urged to
attend.

College, spent the weekend with
Mrs. Marianna McLean. Wally is a
student at North Carolina State
University.

Mrs. Bertha Hendrix, Mrs. Mary
Ruth Haire and Mrs. Ruth Wilker
son, of Aberdeen, accompanied

Mrs. Mabel Tapp was recently
honored on her 93rd birthday with
a celebration dinner at Edin
borough Restaurant.
The Current Mission and Prayer

hosted the dinner for Mrs. Tapp.
James McKinnon
Mr. James McKinnon will
celebrate his 67th birthday on
February 22. He lives in the
Shawtown community with his
wife, Hattie.

McKinnon Couple
Celebrates
70th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. John McKinnon
will celebrate their 70th Wedding
Anniversary on February 22.
They were married in 1914 in
Clio, South Carolina.
They are the parents of 1 1
children, 13 grandchildren, 28
great-grandchildren and 3 great
great grandchildren.
At the ages of 92 and 93, they
are still an active pair; she, with
work in the garden or quilting, and
Mr. McKinnon with carpentry
work.
They attend church at Rock Hill
Baptist Church.

To RJWC Monday
Raeford Junior Woman's Club
met February 20, with Mrs. Robert
Britt, president, presiding.
Club members honored three
members with a surprise baby
shower. Refreshments were served
and the honorees then opened their
gifts.
A business meeting followed.
Mrs. Kenneth Booker explained
precedures for the upcoming bingo
nights scheduled for March.
Bingo is slated for each Saturday
night in March, beginning at 7:30
at the Civic Center. A variety of
games will be played, culminating
in a $50 jackpot game.
This year, Mrs. Booker
reported, entertainment will be
provided on two nights by the
Barbershop and Beauty Shop
Singers, directed by Miss Anne
Dorsey.
Further plans were made for the
bridge and fashion show luncheon
to be held March 10.
Members also listed possible
candidates for office for the new
year.
With no further business slated,
Mrs. Britt adjourned the meeting.

Fashion Show
Mrs. Gene Chalaire will emcee
"An Olympian Spring" a fashion
show, bridge and luncheon spon
sored by Raeford Junior Woman's
Club, March 10, at MacDonald
Cafeteria. Fashions will be provid
ed by The Gingham Edition.
Prior to the fashion show, a lun
cheon will be served. Three pro
gressions of bridge will follow with
prizes being awarded to the top
five scorers. Door prizes will also
be given.
Tickets are $5 each and reserva
tions must be made by March 1.
Each table is responsible for pro
viding two decks of cards. For
