Coach George Drawhorne was very pleased with his team's efforts this year. "We lost our first game to come back to win 10 in a row, before losing to E.E. Smith. The Varsity Male Athlete of the Week award went to the four senior members of the Boys' Varsi ty Basketball team. The senior members are Barriet Easterling, Doug Winters, Mike McPhatter and Kevin Galbreth. Coach Greg Killingsworth had high praise for his senior team members. "Kevin started four games this year and played sixth man most of the year. He accepted his role on the team which showed his great attitude. He never com plained and was always at practice on time. He was a true team player," said Killingsworth. "Doug could possibly be the most improved player on the team. This was his first year playing high school ball. If he had one more year to improve he would be a great player because he has the desire to improve and works really hard. "Mike has not seen much play ing time this year but really worked hard all season. Mike is a fine young man and a pleasure to coach. His leadership on and off the floor will be missed next year. "Barry is a coaches dream. He has good grades, a super attitude and great athletic ability. Barry will do well in whatever he decides in life; he is that kind of person. He contributed greatly to our pro gram this year. He averaged 12 points per game and 10 rebounds. He shot 53% from the floor and 72% from the line," Killingsworth said. The Varsity Female Athlete of the Week went to Toni Rheames. Toni, a 17-year-old sophomore, is a forward on the Lady Bucks' var sity basketball team.
