Chesnutt Ronald Melvyn Chesnutt, 32, of Raeford died Monday in Tokyo, Japan. At the time of his death Chesnutt had been teaching English in central Japan at the Nagano training center for Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers. The students are young Japanese who work in developing countries. He had been in Japan for about one year. Prior to that time Chesnutt taught in the exceptional children's program in Hoke Coun ty Funeral services were incomplete Tuesday and will be announced later by Crumpler Funeral Home. Chesnutt is survived by his parents: Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Chesnutt of Raeford; one brother Joseph Thomas Chesnutt of Amarillo, Texas and his grand mother Mrs. W.L. McFadyen of Raeford. Mrs. Frances Byrd Fowler Mrs. Frances Byrd Fowler, 90, of Rt. 2, Raeford died Saturday night at the Open Arms Rest Home. Funeral services were held Mon day at 3 p.m. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Rockfish. The Reverends Archie Barrington and Carl Strickland officiated at the service. Burial was in the Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Vera Powers of Shannon; two brothers. Wade Ray of Bladenboro and Hoyet Ray of Laurinburg; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
