f i VQmJa/ Mrs. Boyc? Falls, Social Reporter, 875-4562 Lancaster - Lunsford pledge wedding vows on February 1 8 Khrystal Lee Lunsford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Lunsford of Raeford and Robert Bryant Lancaster, son of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Lan caster of Raeford were united in marriage Saturday, February 18 at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Raeford. The Reverend Billy C. Beaver officiated the double ring ceremony. The altar was adorned with an arrangement of white lilacs, freesia, carnations, statica and gypsophila. Flanking the altar were two nine-branched candlelabras filled with salai and Italian ruskus. A pair of seven branched candlelabras and pet ticoat ferns also were used around the altar. To complete the altar, a double kneeling bench adorned with white ribbons and salai and a fifteen-branched candlelabra in a spiraling staircase effect were used. To complete the wedding theme, a garland of Italian ruskus and gypsophila graced the altar area. The mother's pews were adorn ed with candles in hurricane globes and white flowers to match the altar decorations. A program of traditional wed ding music was presented by organist, Mrs. Glenn Langdon. Soloist Mrs. Steve Parker sang "If," and soloist Mrs. Charles Hottel sang "The Wedding Song" and "Closing Prayer." The bride, escorted by her father, wore a gown with a high neckline, fitted waist and full length sleeves. The bodice was en circled with chantilly lace and tiny seed pearls. The full skirt was silk chiffon over taffeta and had tiers of ruffles at the hemline of the semi-cathedral hat. The bride wore a large brim hat covered with soft illusion and seed pearls scattered over delicate em broidery. She carried a bouquet of white silk roses and a small bible that was a gift from her parents during her childhood. Miss DeLissa Lunsford, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. She wore a gown of seafoam green with cape sleeves and a softly pleated long skirt. Her headpiece was a small wreath of pearls and white roses. She carried a bouquet of long-stemmed white silk roses and gypsophila adorned with rib bons. Miss Eula Lunsford of Raeford, sister of the bride; Miss Beth Kay of Sanford, cousin of the bride; Miss Sheila Calloway of Raeford and Miss Karen Jackson of Fayet teville served as bridesmaids. They wore gowns and carried bouquets identical to the maid of honor's. Each of the attendants wore a long, single strand of pearls that was a gift from the bride. William L. Lancaster served as his son's best man. Bill Lancaster of Yanceyville, brother of the groom; Dave Lancaster of High Point, brother of the groom; Jeff Lunsford of Raeford, brother of the bride and Gary McKeown of Texas City, Texas served as ushers. The mother of the bride wore a floor-length princess line gown of green Qiana and a matching jacket of cardigan design with long sleeves. Her corsage contained white silk roses. The mother of the groom wore a formal gown of pink Qiana with a sheer bodice, cape sleeves and a long skirt. Her corsage also con tained white silk roses. The wedding ceremony was directed by Mrs. Eugene Chalaire. Mrs. Robert Bryant Lancaster Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception in the church fellowship hall. A garden setting was created by flowering plants, Boston ferns, Norfolk Island pines and hydrangeas. The refreshment table was centered with & candltTabra ar rangement of white lilacs, freesia, statice and carnations. The bride's registry table held matching white wedding flowers. Completing the theme were white chrysanthemums and gyp sophila surrounding the wedding cake. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Gary Culp and goodbyes were said by Mr. and Mrs. Kemp Crumpler. The bride's register was kept byTammi Hendrix. Mrs. Raymond Kay Jr. of San ford, aunt of the bride and Mrs. Glenn Langdon of Raeford poured punch. Mrs. Ernest Davis of Raeford and Mrs. Carl After a wedding trip to the coast, the couple will make their home in San Antonio, Texas. For travel, the bride chose a white suit with a brown striped blouse and matching accessories. Her corsage contained yellow car nations. REHEARSAL DINNER The groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Friday night, February 17 at the Edinborough Restaurant. The head table was adorned with pink candles and a centerpiece of pink and white carnations with greenery. The bride and groom chose this time to present their attendants with a gift. Approximately 35 members of the wedding party and out-of-town guest attended the dinner. ? Nunemaker of Nags Head, great aunts of the bride, served cake. Tea girls were Miss Aprille Williams, Miss Kristin Langdon and Miss Karin Langdon, all of Raeford. Over-all coordination of the reception was done by Mrs. J.E. Douglas and Mrs. Mawyer Calloway, both of Raeford. The bride is a 1980 graduate of Hoke County High School and a 1982 graduate of Sandhills Com munity College with an associates degree in radiologic technology. She is currently employed at Moore Memorial Hospital as a radiologic technologist. The groom is a 1979 graduate of Hoke County High School and a 1983 graduate of Pembroke State University with a B.A. degree in sociology. He is presently serving with the United States Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. Mrs. Lewis is honored by choir The Raeford United Methodist Chancel Choir honored one of its most dedicated members Sunday, March 4. Mrs. Maude Upchurch Lewis was presented a corsage and gift by Mrs. Gib Bernhardt. Citing Mrs. Lewis' devotion to the choir and the musical program, Mrs. Bern hardt led Mrs. Upchurch to the front of the church. After being seated, the choir sang an anthem in her honor. Mrs. Bill Sellars presented Mrs. Lewis a plaque which com memorated her 65 active years of support for the church and its choir. Mrs. Lewis joined the Raeford Methodist Church in 1905 and is one of the two oldest living members of the church. Hostetler named Thornburg manager Charles A. Local students receive honors The North Carolina Federation of Woman's Clubs held its annual district Arts Festival, February 23, at St. Andrews College. Several students from Hoke County High School were awarded honors in various categories. Taking third place in the arts division was John Ward, an eleventh grader at Hoke High. Rovenia LcGrande was awarded first place honors for crocheting and knitting craft. Susan Osborne won fust and second place in basic stitchery. In sewing, Vickie Blue won second, and Yvonne Perry, third. Literature awards went to An drea Shaw with a first place honor given to her short story. Deidra Jacobs won first in public speaking and Anthony Powell gained second place. Music awards were given to Melody Williamson, first place girl vocalist and Brian Foster, first place boy vocalist. First place winners will now ad vance to state competition to be held in Winston-Salem, March 24. Sisk- Collins vows spoken Mr. and Mrs. William Edwards of Fayetteville, announce the mar riage of their daughter, Betsy Col lins, to Terry Sisk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sisk of Raeford. The Reverend Archie Barringer officiated at the double ring ceremony, which occured at the home of the bridegroom's parents, Saturday, December 31, at 7 p.m. Personals Cynthia Romano spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill McNeill, While her hus band was in extensive training at Seymour- Johnson Air Force Base. Mrs. Viola Fulk, accompanied by her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Waylon Fulk of Fayet teville, spent several days last week in Atlanta, Ga. visiting her brother, Millard Sparks who is recovering from major surgery. Come on out and see! Sandhills Club hears Mel Pierce The Sandhills Christian Women's Club will meet at the Country Club of North Carolina on Thursday, March 15, at 11:30 a.m. All are welcome. The Special Feature will be "Yesterday's Treasures," presented by Isabelle Thomas of Cameron.
