Rutland - Plummer nuptials exchanged in Parker Church ? Rebecca Anne Plummer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Graham Plummer of Raeford and Russell Scott Rutland, son of Mrs. Reba Rutland of Houston, Texas and Gerald Rutland of Austin, Texas were married Saturday, February 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Parker Methodist Church. The Rev. Russell Knowles officiated at the double ring ceremony. ? The altar communion table was flanked by two seven-branched candelabra entwined with smilax, holding lighted tapers. Two pedestal baskets of white gladiolia, carnations, daisies and babies' breath were placed on each side of the altar. Ferns and palms were us ed for a background. Thomas McFadyen, uncle of the A bride played the organ during the ceremony. Alan Plummer, cousin of the bride was soloist. Music in cluded "The Gift of Love" and "The Wedding Prayer." Candles were lit by Todd Plum mer and Jeff Lamb who also serv ed as ushers. The bride, escorted by her father wore a gown of candlelight satin with a ruffled floor length skirt ^ gathered to the fitted bodice. The ? bodice featured a sweetheart neckline and was overlaid with lace. The long full sleeves were fit ted below the elbow. She wore a string of pearls which was a gift from the groom. The bridal bou quet was white roses, daisies and feverfew with white satin streamers. Miss Edwena Letchworth of Fremont served as maid of honor. She wore a cherry wine gown of Lalique taffeta with sweetheart neckline and full puff sleeves. She carried a bouquet of white daisies. Bridesmaids were Cindy Johnson of Winston-Salen and Mary Lynda Weathers of Southern Pines. The bridesmaids' gowns and bouquets were similar to that of the maid of honor. Jay Malsby of Greensboro serv I* ed as best man. The mother of the bride wore a two piece outfit of pink silk. The top was softly pleated at the shoulders and featured long sleeves. The skirt was floor length. The groom's mother wore a powder blue gown of organza over silk with long sleeves and tucked bodice. Both mothers wore white corsages. A reception was given following the ceremony in the church fellowship hall. Hostesses were sisters-in-law of the bride; Mrs. Anne Plummer of Lillington, Mrs. Mary Plummer of Fayetteville and Mrs. Joanne Plummer of Raeford. The serving table was covered with a white cloth over red. An ar rangements of daisies and carna Mrs. Russell Scott Rutland tions flanked by candles centered the table. Miss Maggie Crawford poured punch. The wedding cake was made by Mrs. Lacy Scarboro and presented as a gift to the cou ple. Tea girls were Lisa Simpson and Tracy McFadyen. The bride's book was kept by Mitzi Plummer of Morehead City. For travel the bride wore a dress of navy silk with matching ac cessories. The couple will reside at 108K Lake Clair Place in Fayet teville. The bride is a graduate of Hoke County High School. She is a registered nurse with an associate degree from Wayne Community College and a B.S. from N.C. Wesleyan in Rocky Mount. She is presently associated with The Fayetteville Kidney Center. The groom attended the University of Houston, Texas and is stationed at Fort Bragg with the U.S. Army. BRIDESMAIDS' LUNCHEON Mrs. David Upchurch, Mrs. Doc Ivey, assisted by Mrs. Kenneth Barnes, were hostesses at the home of Mrs. Upchurch, at a bridesmaids' luncheon Saturday at 12:30. REHEARSAL DINNER The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bride's parents at their home. Members of the wedding party and out-of-town guests were in vited for a buffet dinner before the rehearsal . AFTER-REHEARSAL PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Les Simpson, Dr. and Mrs. Vamik Bambatepe of Goldsboro, and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Lovette of Fayetteville, hosted the after-rehearsal party Friday evening, at the Simpson home. The house was decorated throughout with candles and ar rangements of mixed flowers. Finger party foods were served from the refreshment table, and punch from another appointed table. Both were covered with white cloths and centered with mixed flowers and candles. Members of the wedding party, friends, relatives and out-of-town guests were present. The dining table was covered with a white linen cutwork cloth with pink underlay and centered with an arrangement of pink car nations, yellow and white daisies, purple statice and green eucalyp tus. One end of the table was adorned with an antique glass pedestal cake plate holding a pink iced pound cake which was cut and served by Mrs. Howard. Mrs. Jesse Peoples, mother of the bride elect poured punch. Other refreshments included triangle sandwiches, cheese biscuits, candy coated nuts and mints. Silver City Woman's Club makes plans The Silver City Federated Woman's Club of Raeford began its new year with many plans for community involvement. At the January meeting, it was decided to visit the Open Arms Rest Home and on Valentine's night, the club visited with the pa tients and presented a fruit basket to be served the next day. The next monthly meeting will be March 19 at 6 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Pauline Buie. The club is presently seeking new members. Present member ship includes Pearlie Brown (Presi dent), Mary Thomas, Flora Tyson, Reba Holmes, Ora Covington, Lona Covington, Jessie Dupree, Leanna McRae, Texanna McRae, Eddie Bethea, Pauline Buie, Pearlie Rogers, Annie McKinnon and Louvenia Bease. Social Reporter, 875-4562 Mrs. Samuel Douglas Sykes Sykes- Taylor wed in St. Mary's Church Miss Phyllis Jeanette Taylor of Raeford and Samuel Douglas Sykes of Nashville, Tennesse were married Saturday, March 3 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Holiness Church. Bishop George McKoy of ficiated at the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Taylor, Sr. of Raeford. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Theodore R. Sykes of Nashville, Tennesse. Two spiral candelabra entwined with greenery flanked an arch candelabra and kneeling bench which were decorated with flowers in rainbow colors. Candles with greenery were used throughout the church. Preston Ross, Jr. was organist for the ceremony. Hubert Peterkin sang "You and I". "We Can Make It Together" was sung by Mrs. Vira Ree Sconiers. Mrs. Thelma Campbell and June Leslie presented "The Lord's Prayer" in song. Candles were lit by Charles Johnson, Jr. and Charles Sconiers, cousins of the bride. The bride, escorted by her father wore a white gown of taffeta with lace overskirt and chiffon panel of pleats down the skirt. The fitted bodice featured a natural waistline and was trimmed with lace. The lace bishop sleeves had chantilly lace cuffs. The chapel length train was bordered with chantilly lace. The bride wore a chapel length veil of matching lace. Her bouquet was of silk white roses, snapdragons, greenery and white streamers. Mrs. Beulah Evans and Miss Alice Taylor, sisters of the bride, served as honor attendants. They wore gowns of white lace with elbow length sleeves lined in pink satin. They carried bouquets in rainbow colors centered with a candle. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Joann McLauchlin, sister of the bride, Mrs. Terry Taylor, sister-in-law of the bride, Miss Gail Monroe, Miss Mary Leslie, Miss Jennifer Brat cher, Miss Jackie Kennedy, Miss Paula Perkins, Miss Yvonne Melvin, Miss Earline McLauchlin and Miss Lisa Alford. They carried rain bow colored bouquets centered with a candle with streamers to match their dresses. Flower girls were Misses Carmen McLauchlin and Stephanie Taylor. Ringbearers were Carlos Evans and Curtis Taylor, Jr. Timothy Taylor, Jr., brother of the bride, served as best man. Ushers were Curtis Taylor, Charles Johnson, Jr. Allen Thomas, Charles Sconiers, Lynwood Monroe, Avery White, Alexander Wiggins, Roosevelt Ray, Paul McKoy, Pete Fairley and Willie Davis. The mother of the bride wore a floor length gown of pink chiffon and silk accented with lace. The groom's mother wore a formal gown in pink. Both mothers wore white orchid corsages. The wedding was directed by Miss Deborah F. Davis. Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted a recep tion at the Cameron Heights Center. Guests were greeted by Rev. and Mrs. Archie Jackson, Jr. Mrs. Wilma Monroe, aunt of the bride poured punch. Cake was served by Mrs. Retha Long. The bride's book was kept by Mrs. Daisy Alford. Tea girls were Misses Linda Alford and Ida Mae Alford. Others assisting were Mrs. Gloria Virgils and Mrs. Mary McNeill. For travel the bride wore a long sleeved striped black dress. After a trip to Virginia the couple will reside in Raeford. The bride is a graduate of Hoke County High School and is employed by Faberge. The groom graduated from Maplewood High School in Nashville, Tennessee. He served six years in the U.S. Army. He is presently in the Army Reserve and is employed by the House of Raeford.
