Rockfish News By Polly Barnard T.I. B7S-27J4 The brotherhood of Tabernacle Baptist Church did "inside im provement" work on the Rockfish Community Building last week. The brotherhood of Tabernacle Baptist Church was in charge of the worship service the past Sun day morning. Those who spoke to the congregation were Guy Berry, Danny Brock and Jerry Bundy. Sunday night the WMU gave an interesting program on, "New Vi sions and New Frontiers" which concluded the week of prayer for home missions. Sunday March 11 through Saturday March 17 is youth week throughout the Southern Baptist Church. The youth at Tabernacle Baptist Church will be in charge of the worship hour Sunday morning March 18. Sunday evening March 18 at 7 p.m. the Seventy First High School Choral group will present a sacred concert at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Mrs* Sandra Wood Jones is recuperating from rheumatic fever. She and her infant daughter Jen nifer Jean, has spent the past several weeks with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wood. Mrs. Jones was able to return to her home in Fayetteville last week but is not able to take care of the baby yet, which remains with Mr. and Mrs. Wood. Sympathy is extended to the family of Mrs. Francis Fowler who died Saturday March 3. The funeral was at Tabernacle Baptist Church March 5. Rev. Ar chie Barringer officiated. Inter ment was in Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs. Mrs. Marie Fowler, Mrs. Henrietta Tanner and Mrs Mice Allen visited Mrs. Vera Powers of Rennert, Miss Irene Phillips of Buie and Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Hayes of Dundarrach Thursday. Miss Sandra Allen and Mrs. Shirley Stika of Charleston, South Carolina and Mrs. Alice Allen visited Miss Teresa Allen of Henderson last weekend. Mrs. E.T. Brock, Sr. had eye surgery recent ly and is recuperating at home. Mrs. Claudyne Brock and Mrs. Jean Sisk attended the Carolina Flower Show and Designers School in Sanford March 4th. They especially enjoyed the new ideas in design and arrangement of silk (lowers and invite you to come in and see them. Mrs. Herbert Long has been on the sick list for several days. Herbert is also having problems with his eyes. Wolfe novel seminar topic "Look Homeward, Angel - Thomas Wolfe's First Book," will be the topic of a Humanities Seminar to be held in Hoke Coun ty on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. beginning April 5 and conti nuing each Thursday evening for a total of four weekly sessions. Pro fessor James Clark of the English Department at North Carolina State University will conduct the seminar. Participants will examine Look Homeward, Angel, Wolfe's ap prenticeship novel in which his semiautobiographical hero, Eugene Gant, escapes his family and hometown. Professor Clark will conduct the first and fourth sessions personally but will withdraw from the seminar during the middle two weeks in order to encourage discussion of the topic by the in dividuals themselves. During his entire career at the local facility he has been assigned to the Warehouse. Most of that time he has been a Lift Truck Operator on first shift. McArn was presented a certificate, a diamond pin and gift by Plant Management in appreciation for his loyal service. Deaths & Funerals Ralph H. Chapman Ralph Herbert Chapman, 76, of Aberdeen died Sunday. Chapman, a member of the Pope Memorial United Methodist Church and an active Mason, lived in Raeford from 1939 until 1946 when he moved to Aberdeen. He worked for Hoke Auto during that time. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Southern Pines. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dora Snead Chapman; one daughter, Mrs. Lucy Hupko of Graham Bay. Alabama; two brothers, George E. Chapman of Absecon, New Jersey and Robert K. Chapman of Northfield, New Jersey; two grandchildren.
