Public Affairs Dept holds April meef The Public Affairs Dept. of the Racford Woman's Club met at 7:30 p.m., April 3rd at the home of k Mrs. Pete Canady. Co-hostesses with Mrs. Canady were Mrs. Stanley Koonce and Mrs. C.P. Unlaw. . Program chairman. Miss EUen Currie introduced Mrs. Jean Johnson who showed slides of her visits to Australia, New Zealand and other interesting countries. After refreshments were served by the hostesses the business . meeting was held. All members 9 were encouraged to vote in the coming elections. Standing com mittee reports were given. Also plans for the Arts Festival and the 60th anniversary of the Raeford Woman's Club were discussed. In addition to present officers now serving, the new vice president will be Elizabeth Livingston and treasurer, Daisy Canady. Bridge Mrs. Jordan Mrs. Faye Baker Jordan was hostess to her bridge club and a visitor Mrs. Ann Webb last Thurs ^ day night. " Dessert and coffee were served when guests arrived. They went especially to attend worship services at the First Presbyterian Church where their grandson, Brad, joined the church. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Picklesimer visited their daughter, Mrs. Robert Lentz and family last week. While there, they toured the city of Wilmington. Miss Betty DePalmer and Col. Bill Slade visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Thames and sister Mary Parker, last week. Mrs. Jones honored on 80th birthday Mrs. Aquilla Jones was honored with a surprise birthday party April 5, at Cameron Heights Center. The party was given by her daughter Mrs. Marie Fowler and cousins, Mrs. Mary K. Woddy, Mrs. Maggie Brown and Miss Ro ween McCall. Mrs. Jones was 80 years old. Mrs. Plummer is the former Rosemary Inman. Mrs. A. McNeill surprised with birthday luncheon Mrs. Annie Parks McNeill was honored on April 8 with a sur prise birthday luncheon held in her home. The luncheon was given by her children, Miss Shirley McNeill of Raleigh, Mr. and Mrs. Bill O. Har ris of Fayetteville, and Mr. and Mrs. C.J. McNeill Jr., of Washington, D.C. and of Raeford. Spring floral arrangements which had been placed in Bethel Presbyterian Church on that day in her honor were used in decorating her home. Luncheon was served to approx imately 25 guests including Mr. and Mrs. Brown McNeill of Burgaw, Mr. and Mrs. George Parks of Rowland, Miss Betty Crawford, Mr. and Mrs. C.J. McNeill III and children of Raleigh, Mr. and Mrs. Neal McNeill and daughter, Mrs. David McNeill and her daughter, Dick and Kitty McNeill, Millie Cashwell, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Currie and Mrs. Harold Currie and son, all of Raeford. "Miss Annie" is well known in the area for the numerous cakes she has baked for area residents and friends. After retiring from Howell Drug Company, she catered the Lions Club for a number of years and also served the Kiwanis Club for ten years, retiring again at age 80. Myers of Lexington and Philip Michael Boyles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Boyles of Shannon were united in marriage Saturday, April 14 at 2 p.m. in the Jersey Baptist Church of Lexington. The Rev. Morris Hollifield and the Rev. Don Patty officiated the double ring ceremony. The front of the church was decorated with three candelabra, two baskets of assorted white and peach flowers, ferns and palm greenery. The windows of the church were decorated with candle globes and greenery. White pew bows marked the special seating for family members. A program of wedding music was provided by soloist Ginger Woodard of Greensboro and organist Dee Hiner of Lexington. Songs included "Bless This House," "The Lord's Prayer" and "That's The Way." Candles were lit by Johnny Boyles of Shannon, brother of the groom, and Donald Meyers of Lexington, brother of the bride. The bride, escorted by her father, wore a gown of white satin and re-embroidered Alencon lace. The Victorian style of the fitted bodice, overlaid with lace and pearls, featured a sweetheart neckline, a sheer yoke of English net and a high circlet of lace and pearls. The traditional sleeves were also of English net and appliqued Alencon lace with pearls. The skirt was bordered with Alencon lace at the hemline and extended into a chapel-length train. Her finger-tip length veil of illusion, enhanced with motifs of Uce, was secured by a cap of lace and pearls. The gown and veil were made by the bride's mother. The bride carried a bouquet of cascading snowdrift, lily of the valley, peach sweetheart roses, cushion poms and gypsophilia. Sylvia Hardison of Raleigh at tended as maid of honor. She wore a dress of peach satin crepe and cream lace. The ballet-length dress was made with a lace collar, yoke and sleeves. The hemline was also bordered with lace. The fitted waist was accented by a cream satin ribbon tied in a bow. She carried a colonial nosegay of white sweetheart roses, daisies, peach baby's breath and snowdrift. They wore tuxedoes identical to the best man. The bride's mother wore a long pastel green dress. The groom's mother wore a long lavender dress. Mrs. Charlotte Cook of Lex ington directed the.ceremony. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception in the church fellowship hall. Guests were greeted at the recep tion by Mr. and Mrs. David A. Smith of Lexington, aunt and un cle of the bride. Goodbyes were said Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hauser of Salem, uncle and aunt of the groom. Mrs. Brenda Smith of Lex ington, Mrs. Donna Boyles of Shannon, sister-in-law of the groom, Mrs. Carol Elkins of Florida, sister of the groom, Mrs. Jane McGugan of Shannon, sister of the groom and Mrs. Marcia Myers of Lexington, sister-in-law of the bride assisted in serving for the reception. The bride is a graduate of Cen tral Davidson Senior High School and received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and com puter science in 1983 from Meredith College in Raleigh. She is employed as a software engineer with Telex Computer Products in Raleigh. The groom is a graduate of Hoke High Schol and is a 1983 cum: laude graduate of North Carolina State University where he received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and a bachelor of science degree in engineering operations. He is employed as a test engineer with Data General Corporation in Apex. Following a wedding trip to the North Carolina Mountains, the couple will reside in Cary. REHEARSAL DINNER The groom's parents hosted a barbecue dinner part Friday April 13 before the wedding rehearsal. BRIDESMAIDS' BRUNCH Mrs. David A.
