State Advisory
Council meet
Two Hoke County parents, Mrs.
Netti Johnson and Miss Eunice
Jefferson attended the spring
meeting of the State Parent Ad
visory Council on Thursday, April
19 at the Bordeaux Motor Inn,
Fayetteville, North Carolina. The
purpose of the meeting was to pro
vide guidance and direction to
strengthen the role of parents in
improving their children's
academic performance and self
image. Special presentations were
made by Vance County Migrant
Education Project and
Madison/Mayodan City's Migrant
Project.
Mrs. Johnson and Miss Jeffer
son were accompanied by Mrs. E.
Bratcher, Migrant Recruiter for
Hoke County.

Fram-Brown wedding vows
spoken in Durham Saturday
Miss Evelyn Brown and Dr.
Evan Keith Fram were married
Saturday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m. in
the Sarah P. Duke Gardens in
Durham. Rabbi Martin Beifield
officiated for the double ring
ceremony. Musicians were Anna
Ludwig-Wilson on flute and
William J. Stewart on classical
guitar. Mrs. Pris Willard c"
Durham directed the wedding.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Marie C. Brown of Raeford
and Mr. Vernon W. Brown of
Asheville. Parents of the groom
are Dr. and Mrs. Edward D. Fram
of Aspen, Colorado.
The bride wore a traditional
bridal satin floor length gown with
a chapel train. Alencon lace
embellished with seed pearls appli
qued the fitted bodice and juliet
elbow sleeves. Her veil of imported
illusion was bordered by scalloped
Venise lace and accented with lace
motifs flowing from a Venise lace
mantilla headpiece. She carried a
very loose European flowing bou
quet of roses and varigated
greenery.
Mrs. Diane Guthrie of Fayet
teville, was her cousin's matron of
honor. She wore a gown of aqua,
accented with a crystal pleated
neckline outlined with ecru lace
and carried a bouquet of mixed
spring flowers. Honorary atten
dants were Miss Catherine Angle
of Raeford, Miss Elaine Manning
of Raleigh, Miss Wanda Seymour
of Durham, Miss Shirley Kistler of
Raleigh, Mrs. Cathy McKinney of
Union, S.C. and Dr. Ann U. God
frey of Garner. They wore small
wrist corsages of mixed spring
flowers.
Dr. Kemp Kernstein of Edina,
Minnesota served as best man.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Monroe of
Garner announce the birth of
twins, Alison Eileen and Matthew
Graham, on April 26. Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Blue of Southern Pines
are the maternal grandparents and
Mr. and Mrs. Graham Monroe are
the paternal grandparents. Alison
and Matthew join a brother,
William Eugene Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Stewart of
Marshville announce the birth of a
daughter, Alecia Marie, on April
14. Mrs. Stewart is the former
Debbie Ward. Grandparents are
Virginia Harrell of Raeford and
Mr. and Mrs. Orlin Stewart of
Marshville.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thompson,
of Raeford, announce the birth of
a daughter, on April 16.
Mrs. Evan Keith Fram
of Buies Creek, brothers of the
bride, Dan Fram of Burlington,
Vermont and Steven Fram of Had
donfield. New Jersey, brothers of
the groom.
The mother of the bride wore a
formal gown of light blue with
chiffon over blouse and accordion
pleated skirt. She wore a corsage
of cream Cymbidium orchids.
The bridegroom's mother wore
a formal gown of deep coral Qiana
with matching jacket. She wore a
spray of pink Cymbidium orchids
in her hair.
The wedding reception was held
at the Sheraton University Center
immediately following the
ceremony. The buffet table was
covered with a white linen
tablecloth and centered with an
iceberg of glasses, candles and
flowers. Candles, flowers and
greenery were used throughout the
room.
The bride graduated from UNC
Greensboro and received her
masters degree from UNC-Chapel
Hill. She is employed by Duke
Medical Center as an employee
relations representative in their
Department of Human Resources.
The grom graduated from Cornell
University and Duke University
School of Medicine. He is current
ly a resident in the Department of
Radiology at Duke Medical
Center.
After their wedding trip to
Newport Beach, California, the
couple will live in Durham.
REHEARSAL DINNER
Dr. and Mrs. Edward D. Fram,
parents of the groom entertained
the wedding party, family and out
of town guests at Hunam Chinese
Restaurant in Chapel Hill. After
the dinner the bride-elect
remembered her attendants with a
gift and the groom presented his
groomsmen with gifts.
WEDDING LUNCHEON
The wedding party and out of
town guests were entertained at a
wedding luncheon at noon on
Saturday at the Searle Center
located on the Duke campus. Host
were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cameron
of Raeford and Mr. and Mrs.
James Creed of Camden, S.C.
PARTIES
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Upchurch and
Dr. and Mrs. Richard Godfrey
honored the couple with a dinner
party at the Upchurch home on
North Main St. Three tables were
set with white linen tablecloths and
spring flowers.
