Mrs. Neeley honored for McCain service
Mrs. Richard Neeky of Raeford
was honored at the Board of Direc
tors Meeting of the American
Lung Association of North
Carolina Mid-State Region when it
met in Southern Pines on May 9.
Mrs. Neeley was honored for her
many years of outstanding
volunteer service given to the
board as well as to McCain
Hospital when it was a tuberculosis
specialty hospital. She has also
served on several Lung Association
committees including the Ex
ecutive Committee. She is current
ly on the Regional Board of
ALANC representing Hoke Coun
ty.
Acknowledgement of Mrs.
Neeley's community volunteer
work was also outlined. She is an
active member of the Raeford First
Presbyterian Church and several
other community civic organiza
tions.
Corrections officers receive recognition
Sandhills Youth Center, *
neighboring institution of the
North Carolina Department of
Correction, Division of Prisons,
joins with National Correctional
Officers' Week to recognize and
call attention to the valuable ser
vices provided by several of its cor
rectional officers based upon their
exemplary performance of duty
and personal conduct.

roll J. Koebbe, Willie Martin and
Willie P. Malloy for their
dedicated, consistent, dependable
and conscientious years of service.
Officer Koebbe began his cor
rections career in November 1978.
Officer Martin began his correc
tions career in August 1973.
Officer Malloy began his correc
tions career in July 1978.
Their peers and supervisors cited
their individual and teamwork
contributions as worthy of this
distinguished recognition.
Stone elected president of regional Lung Association
Harold E. Si one of Raeford was
elected President of the American
Lung Association of North
Carolina. Mid-State Region, at the
annual meeting of the regional
lung association in Southern Pines
on May 9. 1984.
The Mid-State Region of
ALANC emcompasses 12 counties
in south central North Carolina in
cluding Hoke County. The
regional office is located in
Southern Pines.
Stone has also been appointed to
the ALANC State Board of Direc
tors which met in late April in
Asheville. He will serve a two-year
term on the state-wide board. Mr.
and Mrs. Stone attended the
Asheville meeting.
Other Hoke County residents
currently serving thre-year ap
pointments to the regional board
of directors include Mrs. Harold
Brady, Mrs. Otis Crowder, Mrs.
Richard Neeley, all who attended
the Southern Pines meeting, and
Ken Witherspoon, also a member
of the regional and state board of
directors.
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hubbard
served as Honorary Christmas
Seals Chairman for the 1983 cam
paign which raised $1,700 for the
Lung Association. This will benefit
patient service work and health
education programs in Hoke
County. They were recognized at
the regional meeting in Southern
Pines for their volunteer service.
