? Theresa Anne Riley Riley-Boyle Mr. and Mrs. James Nixon, of Aberdeen, announce the ap proaching marriage of their grand daughter, Theresa Anne Riley, to PFC John Robert Boyle II, of Hamlet. He is the son of John Boyle of Hamlet. Miss Riley is a senior at Hoke County High School. The groom-elect is a graduate of Richmond High School and is now stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska A Wedding is planned for July 14, at 3 p.m. at Shiloh Presbyterian Church. All friends and relatives are cor dially invited to attend the ceremony. Mrs. McLauchlin feted on birthday Mrs. Beatrice Hall McLauchlin, a former Raeford resident, was honored May 20, on her 88th birthday, with a reception at the home of Mrs. S.H. McMahon in Charlotte. An accomplished pianist and piano instructor, Mrs. McLauchlin made her home in Raeford for many years. In 1918, she taught piano in Raeford's public schools. She later taught piano and music in her home on North Main Street. She has since been honored with many awards and been associated with numerous music clubs, associations and organizations. In honor of her years of great service and her inspiration to others, the hostesses presented * Mrs. McLauchlin with a Bible from Jerusalem, covered in Mother of Pearl. Those attending the celebration from Raeford were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Upchurch Jr., Mrs. John Campbell, Mrs. R.B. Lewis, Mrs. Lewis Upchurch, Mrs. Marcus Smith, Mrs. H.R. McLean, Mr. and Mrs. Neill McFadyen, Mrs. Chandler Roberts, Mrs. R.A. Matheson, and Mrs. J.H. Blue. Conoly-Bowen family reunion held Sunday Children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends of Mrs. Ruby Bowen Con oly gathered Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marty Jones for a reunion. A picnic style dinner was served. Those attending along with Mrs. Conoly from Raeford were Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Conoly, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Adams, Miss Pam Woodell, Mr. and Mrs. Earl F. Conoly, David Conoly, Sharon Nichols, Brenda Conoly, Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Conoly, Lawrence Conoly, Angela Conoly, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Monroe, Wayne Monroe, Sheila Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Gibson and children Kimberly and Will, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Conoly, Diane Conoly and Mr. and Mrs. Jones and son Ricky. Special guest for this occasion was Mrs. Conoly's daughter Carolyn Conoly Riddle who has been visiting with her family from Kearney, Missouri. Surprise shower honors Mrs. Cole The Synoptica Study Group of the Raeford United Methodist Church met Monday night at the home of Mrs. Rory Jones. After the meeting, the group surprised Mrs. Rosa Cole with a miscellaneous shower. Mrs. Cole was presented a cor sage of yellow carnations by the hostess, Mrs. Jones, and Mrs. Ed Hasty. The ceremony will be performed at Cypress Presbyterian Church in Cameron. Jennifer Brock receives honor in TIP program Miss Jennifer B ock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie L. Brock Jr., of Raeford, recently par ticipated in Duke University's fourth Annual Talent Identifica tion Program (TIP). This includes the mathematically and verbally brilliant students. The participants in this program must score at least 450 out of 800 points on the math portion of the SAT, or 430 out of 800 points on the verbal portion. Jennifer received a Certificate of Distinction honoring her achieve ment. WOW members hold regular meet The Woodmen of the World Lodge 6179 held its regular mon thly meeting May 8th at the home of Mrs. Mary R. Haire. Fourteen members and Field Representative Jack Knowles were present. After the business part of the meeting was completed Mrs. Haire was presented with an award "The Woodmen Woman of the Year Plaque" and a silver leaf pin. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Legrand Gibson of Antioch. She is the grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Legrand Gibson of Antioch and Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Lee Truesdale of Mount Ida, Arkan sas. The bride attended Meredith College and received a B.S. degree from N.C. State University in Chemical Engineering. She is employed by Burlington Industries of Clarksville, Virginia. The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Carl Spring of Durham, is a mechanical engineer with Knott and Roberts, P.A., Engineers of Durham. Prelude selections of classical music were presented by Cantabile String Quartet of Chapel Hill. Soloist for the ceremony was Ar thur Hope Shackelford of Kinston. Ashely Burell of Raeford was organist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white silk organza featuring a sweetheart neckline. The fitted bodice was covered in silk Alencon and Schif fle embroidery lace with seed pearls. Tiny covered buttons were down the bodice back. The natural waistline extended into a cathedral train which was accented with ap pliques of silk Alencon and Schif fle lace. Her fingertip veil of silk bridal illusion was attached to a headpiece covered with Alencon lace and tiny seed pearls. The bride carried a prayer book used by her mother. The bridal bouquet of white bridal roses, tiny orchids and cascading ivy was atop the Bible. Mrs. Andrew L. Gibson, sister in-law of the bride, attended as matron of honor. She wore a pink taffeta gown with puffed sleeves and tiny ruffles edging the sweetheart neckline. Dianne Haynie of Raleigh, Sally Lynn Maxwell, Cindy Gibson, cousin of the bride, and Brenda Maynard, sister of the groom, attended as bridesmaids. They wore gowns identical to the one worn by the bride's honor attendant. The groom's father attended as best man. Ushers were Larry Spring of Durham, brother of the groom, Andrew Gibson, brother of the bride, Phillip Maynard of Durham, and Mike Olive and Todd Wilson, both of Charlotte. RECEPTION The bride's parents entertained with an outdoor buffet reception at their Antioch home following the ceremony.' BRIDEMAIDS* LUNCHEON Mrs. Brooks Lee Truesdale, maternal grandmother and Mrs. I Wayne Landrum, aunt of the bride, honored the bride and her attendants with a bridesmaids' lun cheon, Friday, May 18 at the Manor Inn in Pinehurst. REHEARSAL DINNER The Spring-Gibson wedding par ty and out of town guests were entertained at a rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom's parents. Immediately following the rehearsal dinner, a party was given at Deer Track Racquet Club for at tendants and friends of the bride and groom. Mrs. Brown feted at baby shower Mrs. Andy Brown was honored with a baby shower given by Mrs. Charlotta Howell on Friday even ing, May 18th, at the Howell home on Donaldson Avenue. Upon arrival the honoree was presented a rose corsage. Guests were invited into the dining room where the table was covered with a lace cloth and centered with a silk arrangement of flowers. Cake squares, brownies, cheese biscuits, vegetables and dip, and nuts were served to the guests. Mrs. George Wood and Mrs. Jesse Gulledge served punch. Mrs. George King and Miss Polly King also assisted the hostess in serving. Mrs. Brown received gifts in the den. Fifty guests called during the hours of 7 to 9.
