Willie Featherstone. Tasseling should begin in two weeks in most
areas of the county, and farmers expect this year's crop to exceed the

Man sentenced to jail for traffic offense
A Ft. Bragg soldier will begin

the Hoke County Jail Friday after
being found guilty in District
Court of a second offense of driv
ing with license revoked.
District Court Judge Warren
Pate sentenced Danny Dexter In
gram, 25, to no more or less than
two years in jail but suspended that
sentence for three years special
supervised probation and fined
him $750.
As a condition of the probation,
Ingram was given a 90-day active
jail term.
In another case, Pate sentenced
Eugene Campbell to 10 days in
Hoke County Jail after he plead
guilty to being drunk and disorder
ly, drinking beer in a public place
and using vulgar language.
The 46-year-old Raeford resi
dent was arrested and charged on
May 9.
David L. Icenhaur received a
two year probationary sentence as
he plead guilty to assault on a
female.
According to a warrant sworn
out by Dorothy Icenhaur, the man
hit her with a broom handle and a
water glass on April 16.
As well as the supervised proba
tion, Icenhaur was ordered by the
court not to harass or harm the
woman and to submit himself to
any mental health counseling that
his probation officer may recom
mend.
Gary Wayne Bease, of Raeford,
was in court last week on charges
of shoplifting.
According to court records,
Bease was arrested May 28 for
allegedly trying to walk out of the
Raeford A&P store with two
packages of boiled ham.
Bease was sentenced to six
months in jail but this was
suspended for one year and un
supervised probation and a $100
fine.
Also in court charged with
shoplifting last week was Donald
Marcus McMillan.
McMillan was accused of taking
a tape deck from Maxway on May
5, and he plead guilty to the
charge.
The 16-year-old got one year
supervised probation and a fine of
$100 for the larceny.
Sylvester Stroud spent a day in
court Friday after he was charged
with two traffic violations and two
counts of writing worthless checks.
Stroud plead guilty to all charges
against him.
The traffic violations, not hav
ing a current registration and not
having insurance, were con
solidated for sentencing. The
defendant was given one year
supervised probation and fined
$200.
The McCain resident was
ordered by the court- to pay restitu
tion to the local Sky City and
Graham's Service station in a total
amount of $73.88 for the worthless
check charges.
Teresa Lynn Blue, of Raeford,
appeared in court charged with
driving while impared (DWI).
She was arrested on January 22.
The 23-year old woman was
sentenced to 60 days in jail,
suspended for one year unsupervis
ed probation and fined $100.
She was also ordered to spend 24
hours in the service of the com
munity.
Randall Steven Ballard was also
in court pending DWI charges of
April 21.
Ballard. 19, got a 60 day
suspended sentence, one year pro
bation and a $100 fine.
? Brcnda Pratt, of Laurinburg,
was in court on charges of DWI.
According to court records,
Pratt caused a wreck in which
someone was injured.
She was arrested May 13:
Pratt received 120 days in Hoke
County Jail that was suspended for
one year unsupervised probation
and a fine of $200.
