Social Reporter. 875-4562 Suddie Deloris Chambers Engagement announced Mr. and Mrs. Garland Chambers, of Raeford, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Suddie Deloris, to Lamar Singleton, of Mobile, Alabama. A wedding has been planned for July 28 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sand hills United Church of Christ in Aberdeen. UDC meets . The Raeford Chapter, #1279 of the United Daughters of the con federacy held its annual "Jeffer son Davis Luncheon" on Thurs day, June 8, at 1 p.m. at the Wagon Wheel Restaurant. Most of the chapter members were present to greet Mrs. June Nygard, of Red Springs, Director of District V. Mrs. Nygard was given a corsage in red and white, the colors of the UDC. The luncheon table was centered with an arrangement of lilies and feverfew flanked by the Con federate, North Carolina and United States flags. The napkins and coasters carried out the patriotic motif of red, white and blue. Covers were laid for 16. After lunch, a short business ses sion, with Mrs. Treva Koonce, the president, was hefo.'&frs. Nygard brought greetings from the Divi sion organization and expressed personal thanks for the work done by the local chapter. Plans were made for the foil collection. The program, "Jefferson Davis at Beuna Vista" was presented by Mrs. Grace Malone. CONOLY REUNION Sunday, June 24 1 p.m. Antioch Presbyterian Church All Relatives and Friends Invited Brin& Picnic Lunch & Tea Bridal couple shown courtesy Miss Heather Anne Hinshaw and Tim Sessoms were honored on Tuesday night, June 5 at the Evangelical Methodist Church Fellowship Building. They will be married June 16 in Wilmore, Ken tucky. Hostesses were Mrs. Janet Hendrix and Mrs. Lib Webb. Upon arrival Miss Hinshaw was presented a corsage of white silk carnations. The groom's mother, Mrs. Lucille Sessoms, was also given a corsage. Approximately SO guests drop ped by between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. Gifts were received and displayed. A bride doll was used for the centerpiece of the refreshment table. Refreshments consisted of cake squares, nuts, mints, finger sandwiches, and punch. Attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hurley and Miss Lorene Hurley of Aberdeen. Personals Mrs. Carol Black of Aberdeen and Mrs. Ruth Barrett of Southern Pines visited Mrs. Julian Parks last week. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Davis have returned from an extended trip to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Miss Sarlenna Locklear, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl C. Locklear, of Red Springs, has recently been named to the United States Achievement Academy. Sarlenna, a student at Upchurch Jr. High School was recognized for her outstanding achievements in the area of physical education. Luncheon fetes Beth Jordan Miss Beth Jordan, June 23 bride-elect, was honored at a lun cheon, May 9, at the home of Mrs. Eli Wishart, of Lumberton. Hostesses were Mrs. Wishart, Mrs. Jean Carver of Chapel Hill, Mrs. Crawford Thomas, of Raeford, and Mrs. Pauline McFayden, of High Point. Upon arrival, guests were in vited into the den for juice and cheese biscuits. The dinlRg room table was centered with an arrangement of pink roses and pink daisies. Guests were seated in the dining room and at a smaller table also centered with roses. Luncheon was served to twelve guests. Miss Jordan was presented a set of silver goblets. Invitation All friends and relatives are in vited to attend the wedding of Diane Harris and James Davis at the home of the bride on Saturday, June 16, at 1 p.m. A reception will follow the ceremony at the bride's home. Patsy Rose Ellis, Roy Mathews married in Asheboro church Patsy Rose Ellis and Roy Wayne Mathews were united in marriage Sunday, May 27 at 3:30 p.m. at Flag Springs United Methodist Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Heston Rose of Raeford. Mathews is the son of Elizabeth Mathews of Wilmington and the late Lawrence Mathews. Wedding music was provided by Robert Simmons of Fayetteville and Gilbert Brim of Asheboro. The bride was given in marriage by her children, her father and mother. Maid of honor was Libby Freeman of McColl, South Carolina. Bridesmaids were daughters of the bride, Wendy and Joya Ellis of Asheboro. Guest registrar was Jan McPherson. Best man was Ron Staton of Wilmington. Ushers were Jerry Ellis, Jr. son of the bride, Frankie Graves and Rodney Callicutt of Asheboro. A reception was held following the ceremony at Pinewood Coun try Club. Shower honors Diana Lupo A shower honoring June 30 bride-elect Diana Lupo was given by Mrs. Truman Austin and her daughter, Jennifer at their home on May 31. Upon arrival, Miss Lupo was given a corsage of pink roses. Arrangements of pink roses and snap dragons from their garden decorated the home. The dining table was covered with a pink linen cloth and centered with an ar rangement. Guests were served punch, bridal squares, cheese biscuits, brownies, mints and nuts. Out of town guests were Mary Autry, grandmother of the bride and her aunt Mrs. Patsy Autry both of St. Pauls. Joanne Leach shower honoree A floating shower honoring July 14 bride-elect Joanne Leach was given at the home Mrs. Jenny Mar tino on Sunday, May 20. The shower was hosted by Mrs. Mar tino, Mrs. Cindy Rogecs, and Mrs. Gail Frahm. Upon arrival the brid?-elect was presented with a silk corsage of white camelias by hostesses. Following dinner, Mrs. Shara Bunker who is the Regional Director of the North Carolina Jaycee Women presented the Raeford Chapter with a plaque for winning the Regional Growth Award for the 1983 year. New members of the Raeford chapter were then installed by Mrs. Bunker. They are: Marsha Hen drix, Donna Lewis, Lynne Mad den, Jennifer Manning, Susan Riley, Lisa Segrest, Rene Sessoms, Sibyl Stanton and Pam Wood. Following the installations of new members, Mrs. Bunker install ed the new officers of the Raeford Jaycee Women for the 1984 year. They are: Patricia Crowder, presi dent; Jennie Gibson, externid vice president; Sandy Tucker, internal vice-president; Sibyl Stanton, secretary; Lynne Madden, treasurer; and Donna Lewis, historian. Each of the new officers was presented with a carnation while being installed. Kristi Posey who was the 1983 president of the Raeford Jaycee Women was presented a scrap book by Suzanne Ramsey, 1983 historian, which highlighted the club's activities for the 1983 year. A gift was also presented to Mrs. Posey from the members to show their appreciation for her hard work and dedication to the club throughout the 1983 year. Births Mr. and Mrs. Jeff McNeill, of Clemson, announce the birth of a son, Jeffrey Case, on May 24. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John K. McNeill Jr. of Raeford.
