Admission is $7 per person. Jane 28 LRBC - The regular monthly meeting of the Lumber River Basin Committee will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Jut 28 at the Robeson County Public Library in Lumberton. Johnny Hester, superintendent of the Lumberton Municipal Water and Sewage Treatment Facility, will present a program on the facilities and procedures used in the treatment of water for the city of Lumberton. He will also address problems in the treatment of sewage before it is returned to the Lumber River. A question and answer period will follow. Anyone interested in the Lumber River is invited to attend the meetings of LRBC. AIRPORT AUTHORITY - The Hoke/Raeford Airport Authority will hold its regular meeting at the Raeford City Hall on the second Thursday of each month at 7:45 p.m. AMERICAN LEGION -- American Legion Post 20 of Hole County meets the second T aeads j of each month at the Edinborough Restaurant at 8:00 p.m. Those interested in joining are invited. COUNTY COMMISSION - Members of the Hoke County Commission meet the first Monday of each month at 9 a.m. and the third Monday at 7:30 p.m. Pratt Building located at 227 N. Main St. in Raeford. The public is invited. CITY COUNCIL - The Raeford City Council meets the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in City Hall. The public is encouraged to attend. SCHOOL BOARD - The Hoke County Board of Educa tion meets the first Tnesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the board offices on Wooley Street. The public is encourag ed to attend. Events Jane 29-Jaly 1 ARABIA SHOW - The Cen tral Piedmont Arabian Horse Show is act for Jim 29, M and Mjr 1 at the Iredell County Fair Grounds in Barium Springs. The show will be held rain or shine and the show (rounds are located on Hwy. 21 in Barium Springs and anyone traveling 1-77 should take Exit 45 and go west to the Iredell County Fair Grounds. Complete camper hookups are available on the grounds for a S23 fee for the whole three days. We suggest spectators bring their cameras and record the beautiful sights in store for the last weekend in June. Anyone wishing additional in formation on the show can call 704-539-5143 or 704-873-9758. Jut 29 FARMERS'S MARKET - The Hoke County Farmers' Market will open on Friday, lane 29. The market will open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. -until, and on Sunday from 1 p.m. -7 p.m. Thad Marks will be the market manager. The market is located at the corner of Harris Avenue and Bethel Road in Raeford. All farmers willing to par ticipate shall be required to pay a S10. membership. The fee for selling from a truck or space, inside or outside, shall be S3, per day. Selling spaces shall be on a "first-come," "first assigned" basis. Jaly 4 REGIMENT BAND - The Regiment Band of the 11th North Carolina Troops will be in concert playing music from the War of the Revolution and the War Between The States during a July 4th Celebration on Old Capital Square, Raleigh, N.C. Other events are also scheduled. The ceremonies begin at n : 30 a.m. and bit un til 3:00 p.m. The public is in vited and admission is free. The colorful Galic celebration will begin with a special tribute to the 400th Anniversary of the land ing of english colonists on North Carolina's shores in cooperation with North Carolina's 400th birthday celebration, and is widely con sidered one of the most ap propriate vehicles for com memoration of North Carolina's and America's Anglo-Saxon heritage. Sports thru Jim CANOE TRIPS - The Lumber River Basin Committee will sponsor three canoe trip* on the Lumber River in June as part of its celebration of American Riven Month. The third trip will be on Jane 23 and will be from Board man (new N.C. 74) to Macedonia (Red Barn). The trip will take approximately three hours. The academic enrichment pro gram will run for five weeks beginning Jaae 25. Homes are urgently needed by the Nacel Cultural Exchances for 40 high school students, mostly boys aged 13 to 18, who will spend four weeks in this area between July 12 and August 8. Nacel is organized jointly by French and American teachers. The pur pose of this *uy is to allow families to share their home and daily live* with a French teenager. Families are responsi ble for food and shelter, but not for spending money. The program provide* comprehen sive medical, accident and liability insurance. Rockfish News By Polly Barnard Tel. 875-2736 The seniors were honored at Galatia Presbyterian church Sun day June 10 during morning wor ship service. The six high school seniors were presented Bibles and the three col lege seniors were presented Bible dictionaries by Dr. David Sutton. The graduates were ushered in by Brian -Shannon and Melissa Parks. In the absence of Dr. David Sut ton, Chaplain Mark Werner was in the pulpit for morning worship ser vice the past Sunday at Galatia Presbyterian Church. He was ac companied by his family. Vacation Bible School began Monday morning June 17 and will continue through Friday June 22 at Galatia Presbyterian Church. There will be a picnic at 12:30 Fri day for the conclusion. The morning circle at Galatia Presbyterian Church met Tuesday morning June 12th at 10:00 o'clock at the church. Mrs. Nellie Williams led the Bible study and the ladies enjoyed a covered dish luncheon and social hour at the conclusion of the meeting. Mrs. Lydia Boahn is a patient at - ? Highsmith-Rainey Hospital. Mrs. Edwin D. Newton, Sr. was admitted to Cape Fear Valley Hospital Wednesday of last week for tests and observation.
