DEADLINES: Weddings, Thursday, Noon Other Social Items, Monday S p.m. Mrs. Boyce Falls, Social Reporter, 875-4562 Raeford Jaycee Women attend officers' training Three officers of the Raeford ?Jaycee Women attended a Local Officers Training School held in Raleigh. They were Patricia Crowder, President; Sandy Tucker, Internal Vice President; and Jennifer Manning, Parliamen tarian. These three and other state leaders from across North Carolina were in Raleigh, July 13 and 14, for their annual training school of local chapter officers. The primary purpose of this ? meeting is to train Jaycee Women Officers to be prepared to lead in their community, chapter and with their local Jaycees to better their community. Courses were taught in Public Speaking, Public Relations, In dividual Development, Effective Meetings, Parliamentary Pro cedure, Communications, Per fe sonal Growth, and Goal Setting. Doris Gosnell, President of the U.S. Jaycee Women organization from Lexington was one of the guest speakers. President of the North Carolina Jaycee Women, Paula Turlington of Lexington was hostess for the entire weekend. The Raeford Jaycee Women were presented with two awards during L.O.T.S. They were presented the awards for doubling their chapter membership. One award was the State Double-Up Award and the other was the Na tional Double-Up Award. The Raeford Jaycee Women were chartered in September with Kristi Posey as President with the minimum requirement of seven members. When her year ended in April, along with the help of Sandy Tucker, who was Vice President, Membership Director, and all members, the Raeford Jaycee Women had increased their membership to sixteen. Any woman between the ages of 18 and 35 interested in becoming a member of the Raeford Jaycee Women can contact Patricia Crowder at 875-4527, Sandy Tucker at 875-2444 or any Jaycee Women member. ?????k* ? Lunsford of Raeford were honored Saturday, July 8, by their children, families and friends at the Wayside Com munity House on Route 4, Raeford. Festivities, attended by more than a hundred well-wishers, in Bowmore Center I" Bowmore Community Center sponsored a Gospel Singing Pro gram on Saturday night, July 21 at Wall's Chapel United Methodist Church. The bride, daughter of Shirley McBryde Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida and James McNeill Johnson of Sr. Petersburg, Florida was graduated from Sandalwood High School and attended Florida Junior College at Jacksonville. She will be employed by St. Ives Travel Agency as a travel consultant. The bridegroom, son of Capt. and Mrs. Samuel Lefcourt Lanier of Jacksonville Beach, Florida was graudated from the University of California and Washington and Lee Law School. He is a practicing attorney. Martha Oliver of St. Petersburg was the bride's maid of honor. The bridegroom's father was best man. Following a cruise to Mexico and a trip to the North Georgia Mountains, the couple will reside in Ponte Verda. Hollingsworth, Leach couple wed in Presbyterian Church The marriage of Linda J0?*1?* Leach and Allen Floyd Holl ings worth took place Saturday Ju ly 14, at 3 p.m. at the Raeford Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. John Ropp of ficiating the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grady Leach of Raeford. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hollingsworth of Raeford. Forming the setting for the dou ble ring vows were four seven branched colonial candelabra with tapers and globes entwined with ivy. The altar table held a mass ar rangments of mixed flowers and the unity candles. A double kneel ing bench was used by the couple during the prayer. The mothers pews were marked with globes and tapers entwined with greenery and flowers. Wedding music was provided by organist Ashley Burrell and Mrs. Gay Barnes, soloist. Selections in cluded "The Lord's Prayer , "Wither Thou Goest" and The Wedding Prayer", The outside candles of the unity candles were lit by the mothers of the couple. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white poly organza gown with chantilly lace. It featured ,a Quenn Anne neckline, bishop sleeves and mushroom pleated flounce skirt. A five tiered bouffant chapel length train accented the skirt. Her finger tip veil was attached to a wreath ot lace and floweres. She carried a bouquet of daisies, roses and babies bfeath centered with a pur ple throated orchid. Matron of honor was Mrs. Gail Frahm, sister of the bride. She wore an- orchid diagonal draped wrap dress with six diagonally draped layers of polychiffon on the bodice. She carried a bouquet of carnations, daisies, babies breath and roses in shades ot lavender. ? Bridesmaids were Linda Carroll, Mikki Freeze, Nancy Johnson and Cindy Rogers. They wore gowns like that of the honor attendant in candy color and carried bouquets in shades of pink and mauve. Bestman was Floyd Holl ingsworth, father of the groom. Ushers were Mark Home, Tim Murray, Jon Rutchsky, and Don nie Tyndall. They wore slate grey strollers with matching vests and bow ties. The groom wore a charcoal grey cutaway with medium grey vest and striped ascot. The miniature groom was Chris Frahm nephew of the bride. He wore a stroller matching the ushers. _ The bride's mother wore a rose chiffon gown with accordian pleated skirt and draped bodice. Her corsage was a rose silk orchid. The mother of the groom wore a wine sleeveless summer knit gown with a fingertip chiffon cape at tached to an empire waistline with matching accessories. Her corsage was of pink silk miniature rose buds. , , ? . The bride graduated from Fayet teville Technical Institute with an Associate Degree in Nursing in Mrs. Allen Floyd Hollingsworth May. The groom graduated from Fayetteville Technical Institute with a degree in Electronic Engineering. He is employed with Black and Decker in Raleigh. RECEPTION A reception was hosted by the bride's parents in the fellowship hall of the church following the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. David Smith greeted guests. Mrs. Jenny Martino and Mrs. Kathleen McBryde, aunts of the bride poured punch. Cake was served by Mrs. Jean Odom and Mrs. Betty McDuffie. The bride's book was kept by Tina Martino, cousin of the bride. Tea girls were Leslie Foster, Stacy Foster, Sharon Har din and Sharon Robeson. Among the out of town guests was Mrs. Marzonia Tyndall, grandmother of the groom from Clinton. * Speech Pathologist attends institute Edna S. Ewing, Speech Pathologist, Hoke County Schools, attended a special study institute at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington on July 17-20. The theme of the institute was "Stuttering: New Trends and Their Application for Therapy." The institute was attended by Speech Pathologists from twenty four of the state's school systems. Personols Mrs. Patricia Duncan Bakos, of Kekie, Maui, Hawaii, is spending two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Duncan. Mrs. Doris Holt shares a birthdate of July 6 with First Lady, Nancy Reagan. Recently, Mrs. Holt sent Mrs. Reagan a birthday card, and received a cordial note from Mrs. Reagan thanking her for her remembrances.
