DEADLINES: Weddings, Thursday, Noon Other Social Items, Monday 5 p.m. Mrs. Boyce Falls, Social Reporter, 875-4562 McCormick family reunion held The McCormkk Reunion was held August 4 at Bowmore Com munity Center. Tracing its beginnings to sometime before the Civil War, the i McCormick family has met for the last eighteen years. There are nine brothers and sisters in the McCormick family, and the reunion responsibilities rotate through the children in order from oldest to yongest. "Where the brother or sister whose turn it is to have the reu nion, is where we have it," said McCormick. The family has traced its roots back before the ending of slavery to James and Flora Love McCor mick, who were the grandparents of the present nine brothers and sisters. Both James and Flora were born into slavery in Bobeson and Scotland counties and were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, McCormick said. James set up a good foundation for what would turn out to be a large family.
